Who do we need to recruit in 2018?

Chuck Goodwin on the wing if we get him. He's another Mitch Brown. Safe and solid

If we sign him why did we get Mallin then? There's no way he wants to play reserves once again

I'd love Benji to come back and play on the bench or as a mentor in NSW Cup. Could toss him alongside Brooks with Reynolds at 9 or in the halves in case of injuries. The guy is a legend and would be perfect for the young kids who idolised him growing up. Sign him up Pasoe!

Fonua would be a good value signing IMO. We'll have some punch on the wing doing some dirty metres out of our half.

Connor Watson would be a good long term signing IMO. We could feasibly play him at FB until Reynolds finishes up (you'd have to think unless he's in career best form at 32 we'd be looking past him at that point,) and Watson could transition into the halves.

Lifting Unit's list from a few pages back:

(confirmed signings in bold)

1 - Watson
2 - Nofoaluma
3 - Fonua / Milne
4 - Suli
5 - Watene-Zelezniak
6 - Reynolds
7 - Brooks
8 - Matulino

9 - McIllwrick
10 - Packer
11 - McQueen
12 - Guerra
13 - Taylor

14 - Felise
15 - Aloiai
16 - Sue
17 - Lawrence

Lawrence can play in the back in a pinch. I think that's quite a well rounded side that will leave plenty under the cap to round out the 30 places.

Matty Mc is a must to resign, been a true moneyball signing that one. Guerra seems to be copping a little from Easts fans but he is a quality player on his day and would thrive around that pack.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear we've had a yarn to Hayne or Dugan though. I'm not particularly thrilled about either despite being great on their day, but a good coach would do their due diligence and ask what they are prepared to accept and what they can bring to the club.
its amazing how little resemblance that side has with the current one.

But its exactly what is needed. I would swap Lawrence and McQueen largely to give Rowdy the captaincy he and this club deserves.

He speaks well, respected by everyone and a cleanskin off the field.

Yep rowdy is the standout choice for captaincy & beginning this fri nite.Rowdy ticks all the boxes re the appropriate qualities a captain should possess in contrast to the hollow ingrate who has 2040 tattooed on his buttocks !

I reckon Lawrence should be captain as well. I'd also have him ahead of McQueen basically because he deserves to be our captain.

I'd rather we try to get Matty Johns to do work with our halves rather then sign Benji

Benji would be a perfect fit for the rest of the year. He is far better than a state cup player even at his age. He copped so much crap over the last few yearsand most of it is due to players around him not possessing a football brain as quick as him , most of his balls over the side are placed exactly where his winger should be hitting it at full speed.. hesitate for a second and Benji looks shit .. or be a Pat Richards and he is a genius .
He was killing it in Brisbane intrust cup until injured , im sure Broncs would let him come home as they arent really using him.
Yeah i know it sounds stupid but he is a club legend and he would shit all over what Moses offers and i think it would do wonders for team and club moral even if just for the remainder or the year and we has to play the current shit stain number 6 in state cup.
Ps. Research the st George period and his stats pissed all over Widerps ... and every one thought how great it would be to get the pommy now !
It was just a matter or 2 five eights not complementing each other and they went the younger one

Here here.

I don't really give a shit about this season to be honest. Just seeing Benji running around with Brooks would be enough to make me happy

Thats exactly what i mean.
Why train Moses up to leave.
Benji ticks so many boxes
We need a 6
We need a kicker
We need experience
We need to restore some loyalty
We need to feel good about something
We need motivation
We need to train Brookes
And we need to dream and an inspiration for something good to happen in 2017.

Agree, he is my choice as well, but will he make the team?

I'm not sold on Benji but I also don't care about this season. He may work in our team and I reckon he'd be more consistent than Moses.

Im talking the rest of the year only.. even half busted he has more to offer and teach than Moses will or could put on the table.
Imagine if things clicked and he helped us make the 8.. thats a friggin awesome bit of PR and Benji retiring gracefully where he started is also a nice PR story... Deano gave his all and finnished here why not Benji

If we had Benji over the past month we may have been 4 from 4...Lets face it we went really close to beating both Parra and the Sharks with a no6 who was not trying

We could come dead last but if I saw Brooks line break, out to Benji, steps one player, magic flick pass to Nofa who scores in the corner to win the game.....I'll be satisfied with the season

McQueen was a dumb buy in my opinion. But if you're going to play him, he has to play 80. He offers zero impact. His only attribute is that he can play 80 comfortably in the back row. Probably because he doesn't do anything.

He doesn't run hard, he's not particularly skillful. He doesn't hit a hole. He's good in the air as a backrower, that seems to be his only trick.

I'd love to hear what it is people think McQueen adds to the team? Experience? Is that it.

I don't see why we need him. I reckon another prop like Packer is a good idea but we really need a couple of gun outside backs.

I honestly prefer Lawrence over McQueen. I'd have Idris on the other side and buy a centre. ET has to get the starting lock spot and then I reckon you can only have one bench backrower and I'd put MCK there. To me we now have a full backrow in ET, Lawrence, Idris and MCK. I suppose McQueen has to get a spot and probably over MCK. McQueen doesn't really add much to that backrow.

Idris could play in the centres but we really need a fullback and another winger.
