Half-man im pleasantly surprised.

Its definately between Totti and Nedved.

And i think it will be decided at EURO. Both have the chance to stand up for their respective national teams.

Zidane.

Obviously you dont watch much football lately if you picked Zidane.

2 years ago for sure. Now? I dont think so.

Seen all of Juve's and Roma's games this season as well??

Nedved and Totti have been outstanding thus far this year.

Normally Zidane, but at the moment I had to go Nedved.

I do think Scholes is the most complete midfielder (took over that mantle from his team-mate Keane a few years ago), but if the likes of Zidane and Nedved are allowed to concentrate purely on their play-making they make more of an impact.

But I wouldn't swap the ginger prince for anybody.

have you seen all of the games that Zidane has played in?
Therefore the conclusion to this subject is pointless, because nobody will have seen all the players in all of their games.
And is Totti not a striker anyway?

Totti IS NOT a striker.

He is an attacking midfielder/trequartista (the role played behind the two strikers). He can play as a striker, but that is not his position.

On current form its got to be Nedved, who I believe will be voted the European footballer of the year for 2003. But after seeing Zidanes goal last week it looks like he's coming into form again. What a strike!

Its going to be a cracking Euro 2004 if some of these players continue with the form they are in now.

Just one question: What is Paul Scholes doing anywhere NEAR a list of 'Current best midfielders in the world' ???

And even more alarmingly - WHO'S THE PERSON WHO VOTED FOR HIM!??!?

(Edit: Ahh, I can only assume it musta bin u Mad Duck!! Ahem!!..Well - each 2 their own I guess!!! :p ;-) )

Anyways, it's gotta be Zidane for mine - he can quite simply do things that no other player in the world currently can! The sign of the very top class of players, as they say - is that despite how many defenders you might stick on them - they ALWAYS still seem to have enough time to perform at will - And Zidane is so cool, calm & casual at times as he's clipping yet another 60 yard pass onto the very bootlaces of his team-mates, or smashing in a 30 yard pigeon-holer, off balance, unsighted, and upside down...that he's almost asleep!!

Just brilliant! Needs to smile a bit more though....He looks a RIGHT miserable old so-and-so at times!!! :p

I voted for Nedved.

What is wrong with voting for Scholes? He isn't an incredible play-maker like Zidane and Nedved, but as all-round player he is (IMO anyway) the most complete player in the world. He sets up a lot of goals, he scores a lot of goals (got into double figures 5 or 6 seasons in a row), has a huge work-rate, and gets back and helps his defence out.

The difference to Man Utd when Scholes isn't there is startling. We have the likes of Keane (who seems to be back to his best), van Nistelrooy and Giggs, but it is Scholes who is our most important and influential player. Without him we look stale and find it hard to create opportunities. With him we are one of the highest scoring teams in the world.

Nothing wrong with 'The ginger minger' in general!!...I agree with much of what you say about him there - he is a very busy bee in midfield, and when he's switched on, he can make Man Ure & England operate like clockwork!...But u have 2 admit he's sure had his issues with form & injury over the past season or two!!

He may yet get back to his best, butI think even he'd be the first to admit that right here & now - he's got quite a bit of catchup work to do to be once again worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Zidane, Totti & co!!

Danny Murphy seems to be filling his role quite nicely in recent times for England when required!

Not so much form, but he has missed a bit because of his hernia injuries. He's out for another likely 4 weeks now because he's had to have a groin operation.

No issues with form!??!..When's the last time he scored an international goal again?!?...He was going thru a VERY dry run internationally recently - goalscoring-wise and otherwise - even when he WAS fit!!
