Pollster, I know where you are coming from. However, why has no-one mentioned the ONLY backrower who could get anywhere near Hindy'sinfluence on a match - Steve Menzies. If you crap on about BK's attack, and Fitzy's goalkicking (which a lot have) and lambaste Hindy for his defence workrate, then Beaver's 100 + tries deserves to be mentioned.

Manly fans, the ONLY decent player you have ever had has been let down badly.

As for those that believe a defensive workhorse is not a massive boost for a team - enjoy touch football sor season 2006.

Hindy has it over BK because Hindy plays for 80 minutes.

Fitzy playes also for 80 minutes. Hindy's origin stats are marred because f**head Stuart keeps replacing him. So now, to make sure he feels like he has earned his rest, he pulls efforts out like his 30 tackles in 20 minutes in Origin 1.

Also, there is a big reason why Carl Webb picked Fitzy and not Hindy as a target.

I dunno, could it be because Fitzy had the ball?

Fair Call

If Watmough can maintain his discipline he will continue to improve

Yeah I am a massive fan of WATMOUUUGGHHHHH (As Rab’s would say). Only averaged 0.6 penalties last season, so he isn’t that bad on the discipline front.

Just a note of interest, Ben Kennedy played 23 games last year (20 games for Manly, 2 for New South Wales and 1 for Australia) all at Lock (except the one for Australia where we was an interchange player).

Should the thread be back-rowers or just second rowers?

I just remembered someone saying that Hindy has an unfair advantage in this poll due to the amount of Parra fans on here.

Think about where the other 2 blokes have played and the respect they have earned from the supporters they have served:

Fitzgibbon: St George / Roosters
Kennedy: Canberra / Newcastle / Manly

I'm not having a shot, but I don't think NH has any advantage.

Madcat, I don't think I can change the poll question, and now that so many people have voted it would be a bit silly.

And BK doesn't? If BK gets a rest, its only for the last 5 minutes or so of the match when the result is a foregone conclusion. Otherwise he stays on.

That argument isn't sound.

does that include injuries Madcat?

That includes Hindy's 3 minute stanza in Round 26 against Brisbane and it also includes Watmough's 27 minute burst in State of Origin.

The difference between the workrate of Fitzgibbon and the workrate of Hindmarsh is the quality.
Fitzgibbon can make 50 tackles and you'll barely notice him because he'll be 1st man in about 10 tackles and the rest will be securing the opponent and flops, Hindmarsh might make 30 tackles but 20 of them will be 1st man in, and there'll be a few try savers as well.

So ensuring the ball is wrapped up and not offloaded by being second into a tackle is somehow of a lesser quality than being first into a tackle?
Interesting concept.

Is that a trick question or something? Of course it is. Not to mention that being the first into the tackle is alot tougher physically than coming in late.

No trick, just find it amusing that its somehow regarded as less of an effort, maybe its not physically as tough as being first man in, hell even a year 9 dropout can see that, but maybe he is very good at this aspect of the game and thats why hes found in the position often.

Im no Fitzgibbon fan but it irks me to see him bagged constantly for being 2nd man in, its part of the game....I guess if he just stood by and watched, people would prefer that.
