we've got plenty of players who would make wonderful ambassadors to the game and as many mentioned Tim Mannah heads that pack.

Last year I started telling my partner about Tim Mannah and what a nice fella he seemed. He vowed from then he was going to dig up some dirt on him. Anyway the next week there was a post match function at ANZ, and not only was Tim accommodating to fans, he actually went out of his way to approach supporters, shake hands and introduce himself. Pretty sure my boyfriend's been a secret TM fan ever since!

From my experiences:

* Nathan Cayless - always humble, always well-spoken and always going that extra mile for his fans. A truly, truly marvelous man, on and off the field.

* Luke Burt - ditto for Cayless. Perhaps Burty is a little "lower profile" because he's not the skipper, but the man has been incredible. First time I saw him I was in line to get his autograph and had my cousin's little baby in line with us. He got up, without any prompt whatsoever, started making goo goo noises at the baby and insisted we take a photo with her. He was an absolute legend. Still is.

* Kris Inu - very, very humble and very well-spoken.

* Tim Mannah - he was embarrassed when I recognised him! Such a great bloke. Was also very thankful when I wished him and his family the best in Johnny's recovery. A lovely guy.

* Justin Poore - such a huge bloke, but he's a smart and polite man. A cuddly bear! Not on the field, though.

* Eric Grothe - First time I spoke to him he was cracking jokes and making weird noises like we were mates. It was awesome - he is such a down-to-earth guy. Top, top bloke and a really funny bastard!

* Brett Finch - seriously, one of the nicest guys I have ever met, footy or not. Very polite.

Inu - way too nice. John Elias needs to take him under his wing for a few weeks.

Burt is no gentleman on the cricket field.

He was opening the batting, this would have been 4-5 years ago, he was playing for Mary Ellen Mudrats in the Newcastle City and Suburban comp. I was opening the bowling, I chucked in a few short ones to start of the innings, its someone famous, why not try to hit them. He said cant I pitch the ball up, I told him to tuck his teeth in (remember him pre-dentist fix). He called me a merkin, I got him out for a duck.

No problems after the game though, both teams sat down and had a few beers and a chat, all in good spirits. Definitely a gentleman in a non competitive scene :)

From my experiences

Tim Mannah - Great bloke.

Benny Smith - Lovely guy and my friend tells me she speaks to him all the time down the local shop.

Timana Tahu - Top bloke, spoke to him the other night, really gave me the time of day. Real genuine.

Jarryd Hayne - Bit of a c*** head when ive seen him out, but have also seen him goin gout of his way to speak to fans while out and about.

Dan Mortimer - I used to speak to him at his work while he was playing NYC, used to crap onto him for ageeees when i was pissed talking footy, he was real funny and gave me the time of day too, maybe shouldnt have stopped him from working :D

Mateo was out in the south coast couple of weeks ago and shouted some fans a round of drinks. He was also very friendly and generous with his time
