Let's get a dose of reality here gents - FMD, you make it out as though Folau was the greatest player in RL:

1. Schubert fu7ked up - he should have registered the contract. But Folau (having previollsy pleaded with Stuart that we wanted to be an Eel) should have had the integrity to wait it out - it was actually sorted before he decided to jump to RU.

2. Folau is way overrated , surrounding by star players in Brisbane and Melbourne.

3. Folau carved up the Kings - they are the worst sied in the competition. If Deans is stupid enough to pick him, he will be found out in the matches where the competition is much harder.

4. Parra does not need backs, as one poster said they need forwards and I am glad he did not sign with Parra.

Im not going to say anything on here but it was about 98% Scumburts fault we dont have Folau playing for Parra this year.

The Salary Cap is a joke. RL has lost so many star players over the years thanks to teams not being able to properly pay a player.

Not really IMO. Lost a couple of very good ones to other codes but the majority that have gone to the UK (where most players that leave end up) are over the hill or not quite good enough for the NRL.

Again I point out, if folau goes to the wc and scores some spectacular tries and then comes back to the nrl it would be nothing but a huge international advertisement for how bloody great the nrl is. SBW did some good work there too. They're really just promoting rugby league, the losers in this are rugby union.......

Thats why the SBW OMG thread exists - all the hero worship of how good he was in Union - despite his high water mark being a bench player in the Yawnion World Cup while almost 40 year old ex broncos were in the run on side.

Not quite true re SL is it? Over 15 players came over to NRL from SL this year, all straight back into 1st grade. The exchange rate, state of SL and increased salary cap has stopped the loss to SL of these so called over the hill, not quite good enough players.

How many players do you think the game will lose now the salary cap is way bigger than S15's?

Think some of you underrate izzy, not necessarily above guy cause will hoppa is genuinely better but to suggest he's in any way gonna struggle with the world of rugby. We're talking about a guy whose selection for qld and australia was automatic with 100% certainty, as certain as jt, gi, hodges, lockyer, slater. And dare I say he lifted for the big games and most of his best play was for qld and oz. I think they'd be insane not to pick him for the wallabies and I suspect he'd prove one of the biggest if not the biggest star performer at the wc. My prediction is he will crush it at the world cup, get an international legendary status as some freak, then come back to the nrl with mountains of hype and fanfare and it will be fantastic for our code. Then he'll just be izzy again, but people will remember and do the math, further cementing public perception that the nrl is a league above. I really think we should try and get an nrl star in every rugby world cup. Stop fighting it, use it to our advantage.

Sure lets give loads of $s to a guy that was ordinary at best in AFL, not too bad in RU and scores tries against crap teams.

He wanted more money than he is worth is RL and thats why no one picked him up. No conspiracy theory about Schubert etc.

If we had a cap of say 30% more, most players would simply be on 30% more wages or thereabouts. If they weren't they could easily get more at another club.

Effectively Eels and Izzy would have agreed to $150K plus 30% but Schubert valued a AFL player that hasn't played League for 2 years at $400K

I still cant help but be dirty the way Schubert forced him out especially after all the work that Sticky did to get him out of the AFL.

I'm blaming scumburt because it's his fault, I don't know if you actually know the full story of what happened but I do.

Thay's the one thing in the whole Izzy situation I can't understand. He was willing to be paid an amount and Schubert said no he has to be paid more. I understand it would raise thoughts that he was getting money outside the cap but unless you can prove it register the contract. If he can prove later that they cheated then penalise the f**k out of them then

shubert is obviously incompetent, but paul kent raised a conspiracy theory doing the rounds which i had heard before, that folau only wanted a 1 year contract so he could go to the dogs the eyar after. when parrra finally got rubber stamped it was apparently for 3 years which he didnt want......

i guess we'll have a clearer idea depending on what jersey he';s wearing next year. i think he'll join with team mundane and win a "world champiosnhip" against dazza who they found in an rsl carpark

Schubert is the scum who has cost not just parra but the NRL of an absolute super star.

That depends upon whether or not Schubert makes the rules or simply enforces them.
