Who should be in the Kangaroos Four Nations Squad

So is the NRL are saying Fifita's punishment is not being selected, because nothing else has happened yet. They haven't come out with any findings yet but he has to sit out? If they have ruled that he brought the game into disrepute then he should have sat out games during the finals not now, other members of the team have done worse but Fifita misses out due to the fact that his issue hasn't been dealt with yet.

Why is so hard for the NRL to just come out and say it publicly, he did the wrong thing this is is punishment, or we can't decide what to do so we are just going to hope people forget it happened.

Fifita should look at legal action. The bloke is a deadshit but he hasn't done anything wrong

Maybe he should just be less of a dickhead, he has no grounds for legal action, getting picked for the roos isn't a right no matter how well you are playing, the coach has made it public that how you carry yourself off the field will be a factor in his selections(whether it was Mals choice or not).

Because the NRL has no balls and seriously lack leadership.

They just react to whatever the popular opinion is and hope for the best.

I think its more like - we can't prove he did the wrong thing, here is a "punishment" anyway and lets hope the media and all those offended have forgotten it by next year.

Fifita would be the first prop picked based on his finals campaign which was just monstrous.

If they want to make playing for Australia have some kind of moral test than why is the team loaded with dickheads.

I'm no fan of fifita as a human either but it just seems inconsistent

Why are people saying the NRL can't prove anything. He and his brother were suspended from all Penrith junior RL games for 12 months because of their behaviour when acting as trainers for a junior team.
A 12 month ban usually doesn't come from a minor incident.

That in its self is more than enough to miss out on Kangaroo selection

That seems to be the plan but they don't have to prove anything, he brought the game into disrepute and they could of had the balls to do something. If they had of demanded a public apology and dropped him from a game in the finals people would of been able to enjoy his contribution in the grand final without the cloud of uncertainty hanging over the whole situation. Or if they think it was only borderline give him an official warning and move on, this "ongoing investigation" through the whole business end of the season and now into the internationals is ridiculous.

Is this the monthly "that bloke from my club" thread?
It's a little disturbing how blinded people are.
As mentioned by others, it's not like Fifita is this innocent guy being loyal to a 'mate' (has anyone actually read about Kieran Loveridge? He's sort of an awful, awful person).
The incident with his brother in the juniors was already a bad enough look.

Investigation hasn't concluded though, yet they are proceeding with discipline. That is the problem

Anyway is it as bad as Friend physically assaulting people on 2 occasions? Or Inglis - don't remember him getting stood down from international duty for that? Its problematic when you get on the moral high horse.

I am not sure it is that all.

From my perspective, most people agree that Loveridge is complete scum and Fifita is an utter knob for supporting him and possibly should have been suspended from the tour.

It is just that NRL have made a complete hash of this with their mixed messages and lack of leadership/decision making/foresight (whatever you want to call it).

It just keeps dragging when they could have nipped it in the bud early with a public apology from Fifita and a 1 game suspension (even if it was a final)

I think the difference is though the others you mention are off field incidents whereas Fifita's 'FKL' and incident with his brother were in the actual NRL or rugby league community.

Fifita does have a case to take them to court. Most players have clauses in their contracts to increase their salaries if selected in rep teams, so theirs the monetary loss. Couple that with clear correlation of a players earning potential increasing when selected in rep teams etc... And as per the Fair Work Act and Anti Discrimination Act he is being 'victimized' and 'discriminated' against (note there are players in the team selected with recent criminal convictions, far more serious than his). Pretty easy case for hi to win if he wants to go there...

But as someone else pointed out, he is a fckwit, so hopefully he doesnt get any $ out of this classic NRL f**k up...

Maybe Fifita can convert to boxing and Islam like Mundine after he didn't get picked due to his off-field characteristics?

I doubt he has a case at all. The NRL could just say this is a punishment for "bringing the game into disrepute". They own the game and make the rules (generally make them up as they go).

On a sidenote does Semi have a case to sue as well. Todd apparently said along the lines of, he is presumed innocent until found guilty but dont want this matter hanging over his head for the tour. Seriously, who are the NRL to decide his mental state if they do consider him "innocent until proven guilty". They would probably just use the old "bringing the game into disrepute" again.
