I find it difficult to select one person every so often for a place in a small group like the immortals when plenty on that list achieved a lot both on and off the field for rugby league. It's too slow, cumbersome and plenty will miss out or not be considered for some time.

At least with a HoF it can have regular inductees that won't have such a god like status bestowed upon them. Let us celebrate the quality players of our game without having to elevate one or two every so often.

This

The naming of one immortal in thirty years is just plain stupid
Are you seriously trying to tell me that Mal, Sterlo, Provan, Lockyer etc AREN'T immortals?

Either you induct another 10 players as immortals immediately to clear the obvious backlog and then set out a framework to induct them on a regular basis, or you just forget the magazine article that created it and put the proper emphasis on Hall of Fame inductees with a proper induction ceremony at the end of each season.

I would prefer a proper Hall of Fame run by the NRL which you could include with the players awards for the current season. Make it a huge event with real meaning. Something we would all watch on TV and provide a proper exhibition that people would want to visit.

With any luck the NRL will have grown enough of a pair to stop letting news ltd run its most prestigious awards before another immortal is named

Yep. They need to move to a NFL type hall of fame they can induct playets during grand final weel into every year and set it up somewhere so people can see it easily.

The sad thing about this is how the ARLC have so under publicised its own Hall of Fame that "The Immortals" gets more publicity. I suppose not having had any inductees since 2007 has not helped. They need to publicise it more and have regular inductees every year.

For mine Norm Provan should be in that list. I mean 10 Grand Finals for 10 wins speak volumes more than any other player currently "an immortal" achieved.

They should either retire this concept at 8 or rebrand the HoF as Immortals to include all people already inducted.

This really takes away from the HoF which should have more emphasis placed on it.

I prefer a Hall of Fame - keeping things exclusive, but then people like Sterling, who for some reason it seems will never be an 'immortal' would be a lock - along the truly great players - the immortal concept is about selling magazines, if they broadened it, and took a look at the voting approach baseball uses, they could come up with something special - a residence/museum, with plaques, history...

Bingo . . . take the game's history away from mercenary media manipulation and create credible archives

Hall of fame is a much better concept.

The National Rugby League Hall of Fame.

2015 Inductees.

It's not hard.

I like the immortals concept. It should be down to 1 player from each generation. And it should be to the player who was indisputably the best of he's era. Although some of these players careers overlap
50s- Churchill
60s- Raper and Gasnier (can't be split )
Mid 60s to early 70s- langlands
70s- Fulton and Beetson
80s- Lewis
Mid 90s to early 00s- Johns
00s- lockyer
10s- to be judges in about 2025

And go from there. If guys like Provan, Meninga, Sterling etc were immortals they'd have been selected over the guys already there but they weren't. Lewis or Meninga (most would pick Lewis ) , Provan or Raper ( most would pick Raper). We should only go forward with it and keep it exclusive.

This is why their should be a better hall of fame concept, for all the great players who just fell short of immortality.

A HoF should be introduced.

Add in all of the immortals and say every one before a certain year that deserves to be in it.

Then the people/game vote for who will next be inducted, pretty much exactly like the NFL model.
