I find it difficult to select one person every so often for a place in a small group like the immortals when plenty on that list achieved a lot both on and off the field for rugby league. It's too slow, cumbersome and plenty will miss out or not be considered for some time.
At least with a HoF it can have regular inductees that won't have such a god like status bestowed upon them. Let us celebrate the quality players of our game without having to elevate one or two every so often.
With any luck the NRL will have grown enough of a pair to stop letting news ltd run its most prestigious awards before another immortal is named
Are there any coaches in the immortal ranks?
Bennett would be a good pick

They should either retire this concept at 8 or rebrand the HoF as Immortals to include all people already inducted.
This really takes away from the HoF which should have more emphasis placed on it.
I prefer a Hall of Fame - keeping things exclusive, but then people like Sterling, who for some reason it seems will never be an 'immortal' would be a lock - along the truly great players - the immortal concept is about selling magazines, if they broadened it, and took a look at the voting approach baseball uses, they could come up with something special - a residence/museum, with plaques, history...
Bingo . . . take the game's history away from mercenary media manipulation and create credible archives

I would prefer a proper Hall of Fame run by the NRL which you could include with the players awards for the current season. Make it a huge event with real meaning. Something we would all watch on TV and provide a proper exhibition that people would want to visit.
The sad thing about this is how the ARLC have so under publicised its own Hall of Fame that "The Immortals" gets more publicity. I suppose not having had any inductees since 2007 has not helped. They need to publicise it more and have regular inductees every year.
Hall of fame is a much better concept.
Will be locky, people's favourite and achieved everything there was in the game with professionalism on and off the field.
Queensland's favourite*
:lol: Look past the jersey and see the player. He may have flogged NSW for 6 years straight but that should be irrelevant when choosing immortals.
Not all of us.You Queenslanders are so insular...
