Milward... as in Ian?

Coaches who are successfull in England and that are reguared as being good based on that have a record of going utter sh*te in the NRL. See Raper and McRae.

Raper and MacRae have better records in the ESL than Millward. I doubt any of those three are more capable than Brown. I doubt Gould will leave his media gig, and I doubt Ryan and Lang are up to the pace these days. Neither are exactly at the peak of their powers. They'd be Chris Anderson-esque choices imo.

the names mentioned recently in the papaers are ex premier league coach and current Les Catalans coach Mick Potter, and Ian Millward, assistant at the cowboys and ex english SL coach.

i'd go with Lohn Lang over either. Lang's coaching record speaks for itself. Cronulla with little money to spend always making the semis, and penrith from wooden spoon to champions.

i think gus gould would also like to have a go at the job. if he wants it, i'd give him a go.

saints need an experienced coach because of all the history there, it is hard for a novice coach to live up to the heavy expectations.

gould if available or john lang

FT, you're right in a way but if we were to use him it should be in a consultancy / advisory role, rather than as head coach in charge of every facet of running the team.

I mean, we'd be going from someone with no experience to someone who's best days were in the 80's. I don't think it'd work.

I'd only have him or Gould for a couple of years ( just for the missing basics) and if a young coach were the order of the day then having him as Wozza"s assistant to learn the ropes is a very good plan I think . As I said before the debate about whether Brownie can coach or not doesn't matter , If the players won't do as he says it's a lost cause either way .

John Lang would probably fit most of your criteria gregs

The only problem with Lang is he is another nice guy and I think what we need is a bastard . I want a coach who the players are more frightened of than the opposition because frankly some of the current crop of players go missing in battle .
