Five pages and still no mention of the Knights. What happened to all you nuffies who said when Joey retired we'd spend 5-10 years at the bottom?

Your halves are abit suspect.

They sure are taking after Johns with injuries and all.

Mullen and Walsh spent a fair while out. Dureu isnt a bad one though - see a good future in that kid. I see the Knights as a more no frills forward pack - could hover around the bottom i see them more fringe top 8

I voted Tigers before I read any posts. They are negotiating with, but will lose Marshall and Farah, and they just don't have much depth, or size. Their defence is woeful and I just don't think they will last this long season.

However, typically, they will start off well, maybe win 3 of their first 5 and then it will be all down hill.

The other possibilities are Souths, Parra and Penrith. Penrith have too much speed and class and will win their fair share I reckon.
Parra could get their act together and become competitive, but over a long season, I thik they'll wither as the season goes on.

Souths? I think they are a bit weak up front but they do have a lot of speed and class throughout their team. They also now have a halfback who is going to be a great footballer one day.
This is also JT's make or break year and I thik he'll have em primed. They could make the 8 or be also rans, it's really up to their attitude.

dont get too excited, 14-7th is where the knights will live for the short to medium term future, they might jag a few top 8 spots and go straight out the back door.

Even if Penrith somehow fluked its way into the 8 this year, I'm hoping Elliot will soon bugger off.

Tigers for spoon because of this trend, lol.

2001 Premiers Newcastle - spoon in 2005
2002 Premiers Roosters - second last in 2006
2003 Premiers Penrith - spoon in 2007
2004 Premiers Bulldogs - spoon in 2008
2005 Premiers Tigers - spoon in 2009???

With all the injuries and poor form displayed by the Tigers over 3 years they still just miss the 8 each time.

Logically not much to turn it around and see them in the 8, IMO.

Interesting trend. Broncos for Spoon in 2010, Storm a year later.

Not putting my collection of Stan Jurd signed Parra beanies on that one, though.

On paper it should be the Tigers or Panthers but realistically any team could have a horriffic injury run like the bulldogs or raiders did last year and claim the spoon

now that people are finally coming to their senses and have stopped tipping that the raiders will come last every year, they are a shoo-in for the spoon :p

seriously tho, tigers for sure.

You have nothing to worry about short of making a grand final or the minor premiership.

He is GONE!

I'm not sure. I think some people would laud him as a good coach again if we somehow snuck into the 8. I mean, noone expects us to do well in 2009 (except maybe Matty Johns)

I'm conflicted as I want to see the Panthers make the 8 again after 4 pretty poor seasons in a row, but I also want Elliot gone.

As you saw in 2008, a bad Penny season didn't see Elliot just gone...yet.
Harsh.
