So with teams drafting QB's, teams not draftin QB's and looking to trade for QB's....when we eventually get a CBA...lets play a game.

Guess all starting QB's week 1 of the 2011 NFL season. Include trades & FA pick ups.

Arizona Cardinals – Kevin Kolb
Atlanta Falcons – Matt Ryan
Baltimore Ravens – Joe Flacco
Buffalo Bills – Ryan Fitzpatrick
Carolina Panthers – Cam Newton
Chicago Bears – Jay Cutler
Cincinnati Bengals – Andy Dalton
Cleveland Browns – Colt McCoy
Dallas Cowboys – Tony Romo
Denver Broncos – Tim Tebow
Detroit Lions – Matthew Stafford
Green Bay Packers – Aaron Rodgers
Houston Texans – Matt Schaub
Indianapolis Colts – Peyton Manning
Jacksonville Jaguars – David Gerrard
Kansas City Chiefs – Matt Cassell
Miami Dolphins – Vince Young
Minnesota Vikings – Donovan McNabb
New England Patriots – Tom Brady
New Orleans Saints – Drew Brees
New York Giants – Eli Manning
New York Jets – Mark Sanchez
Oakland Raiders – Jason Campbell
Philadelphia Eagles – Michael Vick
Pittsburgh Steelers – Ben Roethesberger
San Diego Chargers – Phillip Rivers
San Francisco 49ers – Alex Smith
Seattle Seahawks – Carson Palmer
St. Louis Rams – Sam Bradford
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Josh Freeman
Tennessee Titans – Matt Hasselbeck
Washington Redskins – Kyle Orton

So I've got:
1. Zona trading for Kolb
2. Vince Young signs as FA for Miami
3. Donovan McNabb signs as FA for Vikings
4. Seahawks trade for Carson Palmer
5. Titans sign Matt Hasselbeck
6. Redskins trade for Kyle Orton

I will do this some other time, but just a little note when looking at yours. Why would the Seahawks trade away Hasselbeck only to get Palmer? Seems kind of... pointless? Agree with pretty much everything else though.

Hasselbeck is a FA. He has ties with the Titans organisation. They are interested in signing him.

If Hasselbeck goes, I think Seahawks make a big play for Palmer to reunite him with Carroll.

That was my logic :D

I see the logic, however I'm not feeling it. Mostly because I actually have no idea what Palmer is doing, zif you wouldn't want to work with one of the best WR's to come out of college since Calvin Johnson?

Think it has to do with the fact he is done with the Cincy public.

Rumour has it they egged his house...and someone hit his wife. Along with others leaving threatening notes etc. So he just wants out.

And if he goes anywhere I think it'll be Seattle if Hasselbeck goes to the Titans.

No-one will start week 1, the league will still be locked out. Book it.

Even if not, the lockout will mean I doubt that Newton starts, not enough time to work with the team in camp and stuff. I think Clausen will start for the Panthers for at least a few games.

Didn't McNabb sign an extension during the season? I remember because I was laughing.

Palmer needs to retire. Hes tuuurible.

I feel sorry for Carson. He was playing at an elite level before that horrible knee injury in 2005. I reckon it has pretty much ended his career. Sure he came back and still plays but has never been the same quaterback.

Yep. On November 15, 2010 McNabb signed a five-year extension worth $78 million ($3.5 million guaranteed) with a chance to make it $88 million by completing incentives.

That will be a decent cap hit if they trade or cut him.

Only the $3.5m will be the cap hit if they cut him.

No incentives will be included. Only the guaranteed portion.

That is why the contract was restructured.

there is no question in my mind, McNabb wont be at the skins next year
they structured his deal in a way that if they decided to cut him, they would lose much... they will do their best to trade him to get some compensation back but the clubs know, if they dont get compensation they wont eat the cap space, they will cut him... so why would you do the deal unless you were worried you cant get him as a FA

I think Christian Ponder is not ready to start. Ive heard that the cards will land Kolb once it all opens up... The Vikings makes sense for McNabb, the system works for him and he's got a D-jax like guy in Harvin to air it out. He'd be a good fit there.

None of the rookies should start as none are close to ready.
But unfortunately that's how it goes, I hope Cam Newton's career isn't ruined from being a first round pick to Carolina...Clausen should start for a while to see how it goes.

Youd think clubs would learn from the success Aaron Rodgers has had having spent a good three or so seasons watching and learning.

It might be easy for someone to come into a team like the Steelers and Flacco at th Ravens; but i cant see how it would help for Newton to come in and get crushed almost every week.

IMO the only ones that could possibly start in week 1 are Andy Dalton & Christian Ponder.

Because A) They have decent O-Lines, B) Both have good RB's, in the case of Ponder a great one. C) Both have a stud receiver (AJ Green or Sidney Rice/Percy Harvin), D) Both have great Pass Catching TE's (Gresham, Schiancoe/Rudolph) E) Both playing behind a good defense that just had a bad year last year.

They are the only two I see starting straight away and being successful.

Well, for Ponder, there is no guarantee that Rice will even be in Minnesota net year, and Harvin is a week to week thing with his migraines.. But he definitely has a chance if all the pieces are there.

Read an interesting comment today, not sure i agree with it, but basically said the longer the lockout goes, the higher the ceiling for Kevin Kolb
due to his experience, coaching and somewhat proven ability at NFL level, he is more valuable because he is more likely to be able to plug in on a short pre season and get instant results

i forget who made the comment but its an article on NFL.com and basically people are suggesting the price could be a 1st, a later round pick and maybe even a useful vet... if philli can even get close to that mark it will be the steal of the decade.

Kolb will be a serviceable QB for a team but he wont ever be in the top echelon imo
