Why Can't the Video Ref Rule On a Forward Pass?

That one was obvious, but not every pass and camera angle is, so you can't make the Bunker rule on forward passes.

Could have got away with it in the knights game today. Was a clear forward pass which ended up bouncing before being picked up.

Could have called it as a knock on.

Video ref should rule on put down only. Anything else 4 fricking officials should be able to see. The warriors storm game was a pain to watch due to video ref, it is another nail in the spectators joy of watching a game.

When its as obvious as that Boncos try it should be ruled on by the Vid ref. But most of the time they will be missed as the ref wont refer to the video. Therefore the Boncos will continue to score bs tries on Friday nights at sunderp.

Man stop posting your conspiracy garbage and just debate the issue for what is. There are other clubs including the Sharks that have scored trys from a forward pass. Seriously using this to take a swipe at the Broncos you really are grasping at straws.

You can't say the vid ref can rule on "blatant" forward passes, its all or nothing. I'm unsure Cameron Smith has ever thrown one backwards but others might disagree.

If its so obvious then the 4 officials should pick it up. Bringing in another official is not the answer. There are enough - one too many IMO - officials on the field, they just f**k up some times. Its not science. Its sport, its humans, its gonna happen. Play on.

Joke of a rule based on some sooking back in 1999 or something.

Nope. A mate of mine used to be an NRL Touch Judge and he told me why. (IIRC) HE was told by the "powers that be" that, apparently, a TV camera lens is not completely flat, it is slightly curved, with the curve being in the middle of the lens. Hence anything away from the centre of the lens can view "distorted" with what is a flat pass appearing to be forward due to then lens. This was looked at by the NRL on its formation as the ARL didn't have it, whilst (iirc) Super League did allow its Video Referees to adjudicate on it. After a lot of technical testing this was why it was that the video referee was not allowed to adjudicate on them as many of the cameras, due to the angle they are on, due not give a true sight of whether the pass was forward or not for this reason.

As a roosters man you should have our semi vs the knights in 2000 seared into your memory as a prime reason why video refs ruling in forward passes can never be allowed again
