Pretty hard for folk in Perth & Adelaide when they don't have an NRL team of their own to follow (especially when it comes to drawing TV audiences there) & they get crumbs every year when it comes to live NRL or Rep games.

Put the product in a market that doesn't have it, and you get growth.
I know. I have a regional plan

Cricket wouldn’t have the annual revenue attendance or tv audience anywhere near afl or nrl surely?

It doesn’t have the revenue but it is probably the only sport that could reach the audience that AFL or NRL has for certain events. For example a test against England or India would have an audience similar to a finals game for instance.

So would soccer if Socceroos progressed in a world cup. Or sprinting if we had a 100m runner going for gold in Olympics. Not sure you can judge a sport by audience for its marquee events only.
in the main metrics for professional competitions cricket wouldn’t get close to nrl or afl.

Cricket is the only true national sport in this country.
Soccer, netball, basketball all have massive participation rates everywhere so could also be deemed truly national, at least at grassroots level.

but you make a good point, cricket has national covg and generates third most revenue of any sport in Australia, another example of why metro reach matters.

Perth can be back in the NRL
Used as a regional combined club
With Adelaide. Melbourne. Hobart
The southern orcas
Or southern Allies
With home base Melbourne AMMI
But have games played in all 4 City's
This way all Australia is covered by the NRL
Players would love it. Living in Melbourne
Playing in the NRL
Travelling all over Australia NZ and Pacific islands. Papa New Guinea
This can be done
AFL and other sports don't have a combination club. With a very smart committee
It would be fantastic successful

What cricket needs is a marquee domestic league. The BBL doesn't cut it.

Didn’t the Matilda’s out-rate origin lol?
What's your point?

That the Matildas can get the entire country behind them when Australia hosts the women's world cup?

All of the hype around them has died since the tournament ended. They'll never receive so much attention again in our lifetime. Next year Origin will be the biggest event that draws interest from governments in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.
