Perth bid needs to talk to this guy..
remember when @Get Rid of The Donkeys said the Dragons should rebrand because *cough* english people are culturally averse to Dragons and the club is alienating English people from following them LMFAO

Thanks for that irrelevant comment..
not really, you and wb are saying how wonderful it is for twiggy to invest in sydney RL brands like the Dragons. Your Donkey mate said the Dragons were worthless not long ago. He flip flops more than a romanian gymnast.

I've been saying NRL should look to get twiggy investing in game. A Perth bid funded by unnamed millionaires not so great, but if twiggy wants to fund a team out west then that's a shoe in. That's a little bit closer after today's news..

Is a long stretch lol. He is a union man, is investing heavily in union and owns a union team. Why would he want to get involved in rugby league? Like is said he doesn’t do anything without something to gain, his sponsorship to dragon’s is linked to his business plans somehow I’m sure. He isnt doing it to advertise iron ore or benefit rugby league lol

And there it is, he is heavily investing in Wollongong port for lpg import and has plans to build a $1.3mill gas power plant in the area. No wonder he wants to promote himself through dragons.

Why does anybody get involved with league?! There's a connection now & he's shown he will fund sports. Pvl will be talking to him before any unnamed millionaires I'm sure..

You've seen the viewing trends from Brisbane.

When there's no Queensland team involved the average is 98k. When the Dolphins play it's 126k. When the Cowboys and Titans play it's 134k. When the Broncos play it is 170k. Not all teams are followed equally in Brisbane. Melbourne have a strong fanbase in SEQ due to their history. Queenslanders don't care for Perth.
To be fair some QLDers only started investing time and off-set supporting Storm once Storm’s strong QLD origin contingency really started making waves. 2005 on wards. Before that they didn’t care.

The success sauce for this support and eyes on tv’s/screens might potentially be making sure there is 3-4 QLD origin quality players whether current or will be there abouts in future in a Perth squad from the get go or 3-4 players from a bigger individual Sydney based club to get those supporters to back Perth as their new second team or alternatively have 4-5 NZ rep players to have NZ fans go for Perth as their back up team.

So for example if Perth were hypothetically entering in 2026 having a string of signed QLD origin or close to origin players like for example:

Ezra Mamm
Reuben Cotter
Jayden Campbell
Tom Gilbert
Moeaki Fotuaika
Jermaine Hopgood

Plus sprinkled with some fringe or future origin players would peak Qlders interest. Likewise if Perth use a strong NZ nucleus to build their first initial squad up, it might peak NZers interest.

What are the odds of established Origin players signing with a Perth-based NRL team?

The Dolphins couldn't land a marquee signing for their debut season. It'll be much harder enticing a Queenslander or New South Welshmen to uproot their lives and base themselves on the other side of the country.

Billy Slater, Cam Smith, Greg Inglis, Cooker Cronk and Israel Folou weren't established Origin players when they signed with Melbourne. They were talented juniors who were playing in the QRL's junior system.

$1.3 Billion

You'd be hard pressed purchasing a shitty 3 bedder in most of Australia these days for $1.3mill

I have no doubt that you are correct with his sponsorship and the building of the plant in Port Kembla.
However, before all his personal play teams etc, he is a businessman first and foremost, and a very highly successful one at that.
The fact that he has finally dipped his very-rich-toe into the NRL can only be a good thing.
Him getting involved with the NRL is way bigger than unions signing of Joseph.
He's a very proud West Australian, the most assured way of getting a team in WA would be to have him on board.
PVL will be your hero if he can work that!
