Of course if Kris Keating replaces Kevin Kingston and gets injured, we will be forced to bring Kerryanne Kennelly off the bench.

Fair point, although I can also see KK doing it Stags. I think KK would have a bit more nip about him than Robbo too.

I see Krip as an 80 minute player who with Morts can form one of the most destructive halves combo in the comp..

i'd probably lean towards King Kong at this stage...

tbh id start with morts and jeffson with keating off the bench and see how it goes really

i still think boths kicking games still need work heavily, altho morts in last few games improved

Fair enough. You're probably both right. My reasoning is that Tahu is very agile (a real athlete) who can step off either foot. He's very good defensively. I think he could make a lot of breaks from five-eight and set up his outside backs. I don't know if he has a kicking game or not, and I don't know about his long-passing game.
But if you think that's a contentious idea; my father always thought it would have been interesting to give Mick Cronin a run at five-eight. I don't know about that one.

I'd be surprised to see Humble get any first grade game time next year - not saying it won't happen, but I'd be surprised if he showed enough to jump over the talent or experience of the 3 or 4 guys in front of him for a spot.

Trials and pre-season training will determin who out of Robson, KK and Morts are our halves pairing to start with, and who is on the bench. I expect Micthell to be one step behind (simply because he hasn't tasted first grade yet), but will be eased in through the bench when the opportunity arises (eg injury). Humble is probably a step behind that in the pecking order imo, unless he shows better combination of attack and defence than our other halves options..

As I understand it, Humble can play many positions, 6, 7, 1 and I would guess centre or wing as well.

Of course they stick everyone at 14 as a hooker and so he might be there too.

The question is whether his performance for Wenty will push him up the pecking order in front of the likes of:

1 experienced back - Burt, Reddy, Grothe, Inu
current backups - Wright, ETU

I would guess to say that Grothe, INU or Tahu will most likely succumb to an injury and the xtra back we have could cover that.

But if another back has an injury or say Hayne is on Rep duties, would Humble get a run or would Wright.

In the later part of the season it seems that one of the Eels great strengths is the ability to play for 80 minutes intensively so I guess DA would want to build a a large squad out of the starting 17 that can play passionately and intensely for 80 minutes and who also have other strings on their bow, strengths to make this team almost invincible in both attack and defence.

This is why I feel DA will build a team around Robson playing 80 minutes at 7 and continue playing the way he played over the last few months or so of this season but even better, hopefully he improves another 50% in his kicking and attacking running/speed game.

I guess DA will want to get other EELS players up to Robson's and Hindmarsh's standards (Lowrie did for most of the last 12 games or so). So then the standard has been set forcing all other Eels players inc Wentworthville, NSW & Bundy and under 21 players to shift in fitness, high performance, attitude, skill etc etc. We then have a production line of intense, passionate great talent coming through which keeps the top 17 always on their toes playing at their best.

If Benny Smith, Mateo & others lagging behind Robson and Hindmarsh standards set in the GF, shift their standards/attitudes/brain disciplines etc up to Robson and Hindmarsh on a consistent basis...... gees we have an incredible Golden Age unfolding for many many years to come and lots of GF and premierships will be our lot along the way.

Take care of your cents and your cents take care of your $$$$$...... in the same way take care of the attitude and standards etc and the victories take care of themselves.

I think KK & Mitchell & Humble will be brought on as attacking weapons during a game... when required...

I think DA has a great starting 13 in Hayne, Grothe, Tahu, Reddy, Burt, Mortimer, Robson, Mateo, Hindmarsh, Smith, Moi Moi, Cayless, M Keating (all bold are/can be punishing defenders 2010, the others can defend/chop down brilliantly as well, and all can operate passionately with great intensity for 80 minutes bar Cayless & Fui)... then obviously the attack comes off the back of this awesome punishing defence.

DA then can tinker with the team at any time he feels during a game by bringing on another few punishers in defence (Poore, Shackleton, Mannah, Inu in the backs etc, Horo, Lasalo, Hauraki if he sorts his brain out, Uaisale, Oak if he puts on some size, speed, brain attitude during the off-season, etc) to up the tempo in defence or due to injury or if he feels its time to bring on some fresh leg attackers who can mesmerize a tiring defense, but who can also defend on the front line or play a sweepers role.... bring on Inu, KK, Mitchell??, Humble??, Filiga??, Lasalo, Hauraki, etc.

Oak and Hauraki could both finally blossom under the new Eels regime but then so could so many others like Tim Robinson, Mortimer, Wright, etc.

Something to think about.......!!!

i really rate Mateo with the ball in hand but I still think he is in the Mick Vella class for defense.

He has his moments - earlier this year he was making 40 tackles a game and only missing one or two.

Yes I do remember that but since his return from injury he looks like he's just arms and legs and tries to grab players and obviously missed.

Actually, Lowries defense on the goal line wasn't too crash hot.

Alot of the times you would see Lowrie come out, aim for a man and miss or get bumped off.

THe thing is was that they were defending as individuals instead of together in a line.

I completely agree with you, mate - on both counts.

I hope with a good off-season Ando can fix this issue in Feleti. He is just such a pivotal player for our success.
