Why little mention of the CQ NRL bid?

Should the NRL introduce two new teams

This bid has spent the most of all bids, guess they should have got an iron clad agreement. Rich people and their whims!

have a look at their website. The letter from Anna Bligh is in their bid info downloads. There is no guarantee so they have been caught out by their own lie. The state said they committed to building a stadium if the bid succeeded, in polly speak that isnt even a expression of interest and their problem is that the NRL has clearly stated no existing stadium no licence.

CQ what is your take on a few days ago him stating there is no money for any new stadiums and then that they are rock solid behind a new stadium? That is two very differing statements in the space of a few days.

Has anyone seen the source article , I cant find it in the actual paper?

Is this more CQ wishful thinking like the stadium guarantee?

The state has no money, Bligh said it and Newman says it and is about to be hit by class actions over the floods. One action has 3,000 members and if reports are right many claims exceed $100,000 and as the state self insures it will have to find that money ( from us in taxes and charges or further cut backs).

If they build a stadium Newman will be a one term premier and that certainly isnt his vision!!!

Not happy for CQ but it seems a pipe dream and no stadium sadly no licence.

I saw it in Tuesday's paper near the front. (wasn't my paper so didn't photo copy it) and his quote was there.

The 2 chief Bid members have met with Campbell Newman several times the last month, particularly flying down to Brisbane.

And it's the media - they like to twist things more often than not and Brisbane based media is naturally going to have a bias toward a SE QLD team (even though their meant to be more state wide coverage).

It's in writing and it's time the QLD Government put something back into regional queensland (without the resource royalties and our taxes what would happen than?). It would be an investment with short (construction, jobs, economy, etc) and long term benefits (travel, accommodation, tourism, potential relocations to CQ, etc)

We'll see what happens

The local paper posted this, the day before it was printed "New stadium finding dependent on multi-sport approach- for more see tomorrow’s Bully and online" so it gives the gist of the story and the bid have always said it would be used for multiple sports/entertainment/community/conference/internationals/exhibitions use with NRL club as the major tenant.

Just pray they don't make it an oval...

There's info on the CQBid in the papers all the time and they have some big companies ready to back them up. Don't kid yourself about the boom...this place and area is going to get HUGE!! It's already happening. Just hope that all the foreigners that the Government is going to employ in the mining jobs like the NRL. Hope so cause CQ has heaps of opportunities.

The other day I read a 2012-2017 proposed expansion/development projects in CQ regarding resource and mining companies - some where over $150 Billion that were mentioned

John Grant virtually announced that CQ and CC have no hope in the SMH today. No stadium No TV support , seems equals no hope for now.
I hope CQ stays on working for a future spot if the mining boom results in the population growth needed to sustain crowds and TV viewers.

They should try and get a team to relocate, throw some of that boom money at a struggling club (presuming they can get a stadium of course)
