Why not Leichhardt Oval

If we play games at Leichhardt Oval we are constantly being told we are losing money, opposed to playing at ANZ where we receive $100,000 regardless of crowd figures.
So here is a few simple equations I would like to produce to destroy that argument.
If we have a conservative average crowd of 17 thousand at an average of $16 a ticket( Adult & Child mix) that comes to $272,000 plus there are cooperate boxes and food and drink sales (which going by prices would make a fortune) plus merchandise and also the ability for supporters to utilize Balmain Leagues Club and make a further profit for the venture and also provide great PR with supporters seeing the team in person.
I understand they have outgoings such as big screens etc but surely they would have to be able to make the $100,000 they would get at ANZ plus gain a home ground advantage like we used to have and also view the game in one of the best grounds to watch footy in.

Please tell me if im missing something here?????? Why aren’t we using it more???

Because some of the facilites are equivalent to third world India. You cannot expect corporate sponsers to be subjected to the toilets and lack of big screens, car parking and public transport options for the amount of money they tip in.It needs to be fixed up properly in order for more games to be played there.

I see your point but Brookvale Oval for instance would not be much better and they dont seem to have any issues. As for the parking and transport probs, I live very close to ANZ but i refuse to go there because it has no atmosphere and i am happy to spend the extra time waiting to get away from the ground at Leichhardt, plus going by crowd figures there it appears im not alone with them thoughts.

Brookvale is not perfect either, but last time I was there they were selling Raffle tickets and rallying the council for money to improve it.This is what the tigers need to do, I believe leichardt can be fixed, but whether anybody is willing to put up the money remains to be seen.

I believe there was money put on the table but i think it was a federal Liberal Government promise but now Rudd got in im sure the money has now been earmarked for something we can all use like an Arts display or a global warming convention.:sarcasm:

Souths had similar problems with Clover Moore, all these politicians are quick to take our money, but dont want to put it back into useful things for the community.

The other problem with Leichhardt and Campbelltown is that the crowds cant be assured. A relly wet season or more crap performances will see the crowds dwindle.

I think we should play out of Parra stadium.
LO and CS arnt up to scratch and nobody likes ANZ. Using a ground fulltime that is nether Balmain or Wests focused might unite the fans a bit too.

Balmain once tried that! stats showed more supporters lived closer to parra stadium so they moved there for a season and it was a diasaster.

Yeah I know, but Balmain had a terrible year on the field ,I dont know if they would have had much bigger crowds at LO.
These days corporate facilities are a must.

I laugh when people bring up car park facilities...........mate, it's been that way for 25 years......

...and for people who complain about the sun in their eyes while standing on the hill......the last time I checked, the sun never changed the way it set...

Thats the problem, the ground hasnt changed in 25years, but the game has. Hot dogs and 'doubles' cant finance a club.

I have often thought Concord oval could make a fair home ground. Failing that I would like either a fifty fifty split between cambo and LO or failing that a three way split with the cement jungle, but they have to be smart what game they play at what venue and to some extent what time

Leichhardt Oval has ONE toilet for the corporate 'facilities' (so called). ANZ's corporate suites are like a 5 star CBD hotel. That is why the Tigers play at ANZ. The money from the government is being misspent if a single cent of it isn't being spent on top quality corporate facilities. Once they are comparable in quality to ANZ then you can start thinking about crowd facilities, but without the corporates catered for as their big sponsorship bucks have every right to expect you won't be playing at the ground anyway.

super coach, Concord has great potential, but would need a lot of work for the same reasons. The corporate facilities rival Leichhardt for their crapness. The eastern stand is great, with about 8,000 seats all with top views, but the roof only extends about half way so with a bit of wind from the west 6500 people get wet. It also needs work to prevent the pigeons nesting in there - the top quarter rows are covered in sh*t. You'd need to gut at least half the Western Stand to put proper corporate facilities in. The change rooms are a bit tight, but that could be fixed up by taking up the empty space under the stand. It also has grossly inadequate toilet and catering facilities. Like I said, great potential but it would take all the money currently promised to Campbelltown and Leichhardt and then some to make it somewhere you could call home permanently. It would be the best ground in Sydney if done right, but it's much easier to take the money at ANZ.
