Papworth's hardly fair - with all the injuries he had, it's hardly surprising he didn't achieve in league.

I'll give you Morgan, though.

When did Matt Burke play league?

The Matt Burke I am talking about is the one who owns the Mill Hill Hotel and played for Manly and the Roosters. Played several tests for the Wannabies in the mid-eighties. Signed with Manly in 88.

There are far, far more Duel internationals that first played for the wallabies and then made the kangaroos, and even more that played Australian schoolboys RU before being stolen by the league and making it to the Kangaroos *cough* Wally Lewis *cough*. On Wally Lewis, you know who he says is the greatest player he ever played with? Mark Ella. And they only played together as schoolboys.

This is really a stupid debate though.

Wally played league from the time he was a young child to the day he retired. He only played union for a few years at high school, and, even then, he still played league for his club. He has always considered himself to be a "league man", and was, in no way, shape or form, "stolen" from rugby union.

Get ready for the sleepiest month of the year guys and gals. Yawnion world cup month is upon us, so get out your pillows make sure you clean your teeth or take them out and prepare for the kip of a lifetime. Of course the key is having a tele in your room, tuned on the yawnion so you can sleep the month away. If you happen to awake, a yawnion game is sure to be on so you'll slip straight back into your coma. Nothing to worry about.

By the end of it, you'll be completely rejuvenated and ready for the long, hot summer that lies ahead.

Thank you yawnion.

Well said. Wally is a true league from the day he signed up for cannon hill under 6's to his last game against Penrith for the Gold Coast back in 1992. Only played yawnion at high school because his toffy toffy private school never played league. Always played club league during his school yawnion days. Go Valleys!!

I can't talk of my favourite yawnion game because I've fallen asleep during every one of them. But I can at least talk about my favourite dream during a yawnion game. That dream involved being at the 1989 rugby league grand final with Blocker Roach and Siro being kept on during the closing stages instead of being taken off. Balmain ended up defeating the Raiders thanks to a 50 metre Siro intercept in extra-time. Everyone partied till the wee hours of the morning the following Friday and Laurie Nicholls was made lord mayor of Sydney the following year.

Again, thank you yawnion for making my dreams so real.

Let the morons have there little ranting thread. Since the title of the thread is "Why we still hate Union." it was a fair bet that this was an anti union thread. If you don't like it, Don't post in it Or better yet leave the forum

RL was good back then. I was a big fan, and I remember that game too, I was going for the Raiders to win. Hated Blocker and thought he was thug. Big Mal was one of my favourite players.

rl is just as good now

the players are a lot fitter and the game is a lot faster

although if you like yawnion

you will probably dislike a fast game

RL was more exciting back then. More set plays, more unpredictable, and players seem to pass the ball more.

Now, there is too much emphasis on hit-ups. 1 hit up, 2 hit up, 3 hitup.... etc. No set moves, support play is worse, and not a lot of passing going on.

Mate if a fitter or faster game is your liking then AFL is your choice. That game has fitter players, and its the fastest football for sure.
