It will probably please many here to know that in England and especially Wales Yawnion is in a complete mess. Many English clubs are virtually bankrupt. The Welsh have abolished many of their traditional club sides and reorganised them into regional teams. The bad feeling and squabbling has been a joy to behold, as is the RFL exploiting it.

At the same time the RL Summer Conference has been a great success, taking the game into areas of England and Wales in which it has never been played before. Many of the new players have come from the traditional union recruiting grounds.

Union rocks bro. Maybe you dont appreciate it if you happen to be a bloody australian. How can you say its boring when the All Blacks carve up all the other teams scoring over 50 points. Rugby isnt just a game bro its a religion. You just can't take it that the all blacks are better than you and that this code is better than your code and our players are better than yours. Also at least union is a world sport unlike league which the aussies love becuz suddenly they arent good at union anymore.

I've never loved it, and enjoy reading in the paper that the Wallabies got smashed. The first post in this thread, and what has gone on in places like France in the past, somes up why I don't like Union. But even before I knew of the way Union treated other sports around the world, I still found it incredably boring.

i just dont like kick and clap cause so overrated,i like league cause theres no imposters who hide in defence or take what yawnion calla hit up from a 1 meter runup then drop to the ground as if shot,i spose i like the true toughness in league but then again we all know league is the working mans game where kick and clap is for soft cocked suits so the difference in the physical nature of the game is easy to see.league for hard men union for soft.

Well you are entitled to your own opinion and my opinion is that union is better than league. We dont just kick in rugby union, look at carlos he isnt that good a kicker and he still made frist five pozzie becuz he can set up attack. Union players can hit up as well like Ma'a Nonu and Rodney So'oialo. Anyways union has got culture especially here in kiwiland

yes theres nothing like that good old english private school "dont dirty my shirt"culture. just once i'd like to see someone catch the ball and charge back into the defence instead of kicking it,but hey i get that 7 times a week in every game of league

At least in union we hardly ever need to kick to score a try. Also we can have as much tackles as we like. In league u cant take more than 6 tackles at a time. Wosses. Yeah that Southland Harbour game was hard out. My cuz lives down south. Some of you league fans are a pack of whinges worse than politicians

I definitely prefer league to union, but I've found league fans to be, on the whole, a lot more defensive & insecure about their code than union fans. I'm happy to watch both games.

Yeah, it's the spastic, insecure fans who deep down are truly panicking that union, soccer or AFL is going to somehow destroy rugby league that give league supporters such a bad name.

Seriously guys, get a f**king grip on reality.

Not everyone is going to like league.

Not everyone is going to like AFL

Not everyone is going to like union

Not everyone is going to like soccer

Deal with it.

If you can't hack the idea of different strokes for different folks, you need to take a good, long hard look at yourself.

It's like short male syndrome.... And it's utterly pathetic.

Here's a post I found on a rugby forum, where they have a thread devoted to the league vs. union debate. I paste it here for a laugh - I'd like to see Gav's reaction if he reads this:

Its quite simple. League in England is played by northerners. It is a well known fact that it is grim up north. It is like a timewarp, taking you back to the 1950's. Bit like going to NZ. Kids up to the age of twenty still wear shorts and flat caps. They say things like 'ee by gum' and it rains all the time. They all race pigeons and own a whippit. As a result it is a strange place to visit, but only under duress. League is not better than Union, that is a myth purpetuated by these Northerners and mainly Australians, who lets face it are all a bit bonkers in any case. Due to a national lack of any intelligence in Australia they play a lot of it, there too. They play aussie rules as well, which just proves my point.

If it was so great, why are all be best players switching to Union.

Plenty of soccer players from the north too. I'd much prefer to see an Adrian Morley hit than a Sebastian Appleseed penalty goal "rah rah". Union players in England remind of the toff toff clowns in the young ones episode where the lads go on that University game show hosted by "Bambi". 'Rah Rah Rah'

The whole idea of Yawnion bores me to death.

Union players can hit up
If rugby forwards hit up like they do in league they wouldnt make it to the defense cuz they'd run outta breath!!!!

At least in union we hardly ever need to kick to score a try
The problem is unless your playing super 12 you dont score tries, u kick goals, goals and more goals.

You know the real reason John "cmon boys tickle me under my double chin" O"Neill bought up the biting allegations again?????? Cuz his pussy sport's losing publicity against the NRL and AFL, Now who feels threatened?????!!!!!
