Ok mate, you have your view.

My posts in this matter are not based on media or innuendo. As respect, as I stated I am not at liberty at this stage to disclose my info. You believe what you want. I am 100% certain of what i have said, and it doesn't reflect well on those at the club.

There is a story here, whether you like it or not.
Read between the lines....I know there is a story.....I dont know what it is, if you do good luck to you.
My point was the way they went about telling us there was not...is a tad embarassing for poor Widdop and reeks of a classic reverse smother to keep us all quiet for now. Player manager..then...Widdop then club..
Then a 2nd interview with Widdop today.
I dont care whose fault it is or who leaked what.or how it was handled.
But the facts are now that as a fan it is sad cause I am a supporter of Widdop and want him at our club for the long term
but now there is a cloud hanging over and it will now have an affect on our season in some shape or form and add more pressure on him regardless of the truth
so.whatever happens now happens

You need to read between the lines as i clearly said this reflects badly on the club. So no argument there.

Yes, Gaz was put out to make a statement that he never should have. Why ? BTW, credit to him.

The club then delivered this.

I stand by my comments that this was poorly handled by the club, and that the personal reasons behind the guys decision has yet to hit the public. It aint $$$.

I'm sure in years to come there will be a book & the truth will be revealed in this "Widdopgate" cover up.
Something seems to smell on the surface and wording has been selective & somewhat scripted.

So did or didn't Widdop tell the club he wanted to leave several weeks ago? If he did then its only reasonable the fans know the chief playmaker/captain/most senior member in the team wants to leave. No reasons have been given and no innuendo whether it was good or bad. And as BLM01 said its happening dont worry about it, move on.

For a while now, Gareth has indicated that at some stage he would like to go back to England to play before the end of his career. The recent conversation was no different. Add to this:
  1. Someone from the club leaks the information
  2. Throw in some Chinese whispers, a little poetic licensing and BOOM, Moley has a story full of 1/2 truths
  3. Suddenly every sports journalist from here to Hull writes their own version of the story

No.

Saints would return to the Benji/Widdop 2014-16 period where the team had two five-eighths.

The difference would be two halfbacks in Johnson/Hunt.

Pass.
You have a point. Warriors were quick to dismiss Johnson. On a good day he was phenomenal. On a bad day he was atrocious. Hmmm. It"ll be interesting to see how he goes with Cronulla.

The fact he wanted to go to SL at some point has been common knowledge for years. Why would he be upset about someone saying this? One minute its all beat up by the media and another its because there are personal issues behind it. Nothing has come out publically that was not already known.

If he has been talking to the club about not completing his contract for several weeks this is major news for the club and fans. I dont see why this should be kept a secret. If its not whats been happening then this could be unequivocally knocked on the head by the club and the player. Instead the statements that have been made are full of provisos.

I dont care who is right or wrong, my concern is if we are in this situation what would be the best strategy going forward.

Maybe he is homesick. Not sure why though. I didn't even realise he came to Oz as a teenager. I spent 6 months in England a long time ago. Bloody depressing. Wake up in the dark and go home in the dark. Only bright side is ESL and fish and chips Xx

Seriously?

Firstly, he didn't give a time frame during the discussions yet the reports said he did. Secondly, a private conversation was leaked by the club which resulted in incorrect information being reported to the public. Thirdly, the club left him to resolve the issue before coming out with their own version of events. Why would any player want to play for a club that firstly breached their trust and secondly didn't support them because they knew they were in the wrong.

Not sure how much clearer I can make it. The shit thing with this thread is that all the anger is aimed at Widdop when it should be aimed at the club. Like I said, the statement from Millward is pure arse covering and crisis management due to their own stupidity.

This is the information I have and the source is credible.

We can move on but this situation has been created from incompetence when it really shouldn't have happened at all.

In my opinion the simple facts are:

Widdop is finding it difficult with his rehab and is not confident he will return to his previous standard. This being the case, his best bet would be to leave and join the ESL while his reputation is at a high.

With Norman being the only option available after Hayne and Johnson being no longer available, Norman's manager is now playing hard ball insisting on top dollar to move from the Eels. No more and no less than this.

Solution: Millward should negotiate a deal to sign Norman and then SGI should either test Widdop at fullback or immediately grant him a release to go to the ESL

Who has Johnson signed with?

The point is DQ..he was asked that very question and said NO in respect to being homesick.
And I congratulate you if you get back to a size 10. But if you like your fush & chups that would of made the task more difficult.
