Will 2014 be any better?

He is quite average! As is Anasta, Fulton and any other so called 5/8 we have they are all B Grade. Lets cut the bs the kids must do it otherwise we are bottom 4 .

I figure you may as well give them a shot. Maybe Moltzen can fill in at 6 and do a good job but why not just give it to Moses.

Surely Anasta isn't even worth trying. He might go okay during some games but I figure he will be as inconsistent as any other option without any upside over the longer term.

I dunno about you guys, but i thought Blake Austin looked very average today.

I'm not so sure he's going to figure much in the NRL side next year.

I tend to agree MU. I actually had high hopes for Austin. He is really at the beginning of his career when compared to Anasta and I thought he may form a partnership with Brooks. I now have my doubts he will be our best 5/8 option.

I thought Austin looked ok in the first half but didn't see the second half. Did he play differently or were you guys unimpressed with his first half as well?

I think if you don't play Siro at 6 Moltzen is the best option. Moltzen will look better with a playmaker like Brooks around him.

Windsor got absolutely destroyed and didn't have any the ball the second half.

It's pretty silly to be writing off a bloke after seeing him for one game. And he wasn't even that bad, he was a whisker away from scoring the opening try with a solo run at the line.

And if you had seen him the week before you wouldn't be writing him off. He was absolutely dominate and the best on ground by a long way.

13. Fulton/Sue
12. BMM
11. Siro

6. Austin
7. Brooks

Radical Rat, I'll take your word for it that he was good the week before, unfortunately I have seen little of his play recently and for that reason I asked a question about his form on another thread. I am certainly not writing him off, for his sake and that of the team I hope he does go well.

I think we will miss Benji more then we think, I know he had a crap year but he was very creative when he was at his best. If he was around and happy in 2014 along side Brooks he could have got back to his natural game again. Financially his leaving has helped us in other ways though but if we were the rorters we could have kept him as well as Brooks, f**ked if I know how they can have so many stars and stay under the cap.

Yeah I agree. For the majority of this season I wanted Benji out as much as anyone but I think that Dragons game with Brooks and Benji both on the field gave us an indication of what we could have looked forward to next year. I get that it was only the dragons but we looked good right ?

Benji playing busted was more likely to create something than the other 16.In saying that the time was right for Benji to move on,both for himself and the club.I just hope Potter looks at the no6 with a open mind and gives all the candidates a fair crack and not go for the easy option and select Anasta on experience alone.

AS for Austen,I would not right him off yet, often playing in a higher grade, players rise to the occasion, look at Samona.

I know we can't keep everybody, but what is it with the Sharks snaffling our players??, RLW Mole reports Paul Simona has signed with them, don't know much about him but he has some good League genes...

It sucks because you finally got a half to put next to Benji and now yous lose him. I think you would have been far stronger with him next year but i still think it was time to move on.

I think Sironen has to be #6 next year, until Moses is ready for the step up.

There's no two ways about it for me anymore.

Austin, Moltzen and Anasta can fight for a bench utility role

Completely agree with you that Sironen should be 5/8 even though i haven't been his biggest fan. I'm just hoping that Anasta doesn't somehow start in the 2nd row, if Fulton is starting the other 2 backrowers need some size.

I would almost say Moltzen is your second best option (maybe even the best if he actually showed some heart) but i think he needs to be moved on.

Ive liked Siro in the back row more than as a 5/8. His kicking game is good and he can set up the odd try but in the back row he was actually scoring tries and making impact. All he needs is a bit more size and good defence and he will be a weapon

Not sure if this should be for another thread but, I found this "2013 report card" in the tele website. At the bottom is a pretty nifty stats graph comparing us with the other clubs. There are some pretty telling numbers from the 2013 season especially when comparing us to Manly and Easts.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/clubs/tigers?teamid=3400

In metres gained over all we were far and away below the other teams, same with line breaks, try assists, and of course over all points. Hit up metres were the lowest in the comp

We also were pretty high on errors, missed tackles and penalties conceded. Completed sets were also second lowest in the comp.

If next season we can put together a team that can just hold onto the ball, make the forward metres and get to our kick then we are probably half way there.

Did anyone happen to unfortunately watch Richards defensive effort against Uate. He was brushed off several times, will fit like a glove with the other finger tackling West Tigers. Not good enough!

It was a rampaging Uate, but yes Richards certainly struggled with him.

On an even worse note, it's been reported that BMM broke his leg for Tonga this morning. Absolute disaster. F*ck me we can't take a trick.

Any confirmation on this?

Anasta starting the year at 5/8 and the recent signing of Yileen Gordon one has to wonder who is running the show....geez.

I just read that Moltzen is also an option at 6. Personally I think he is probably the best option out of Anasta, Austin and himself.

I'd prefer Moses.

I would prefer Anasta to get the start for a number of reasons. Out of all the potential 5/8s:
- He has the most experience
- He is the best defender
- Has the best kicking game
- Can kick goals if Richards gets injured

The only thing he lacks is the attacking flair that we would get from Moses, but I really don't see any reason why Moltzen or Austin would be a better option.

Either way you look at it. As soon as Moses proves he can defend like a FG, our 6 and 7 will be locked down for a good while.
I can't believe that by this time we will actually have a solid spine in Tedesco, Moses, Brooks and Farah.

Moses needs a year in NSW Cup running at men. He'd get eaten alive in first grade.

Moltzen is the best option out of those three mentioned. With his boyfriend gone he can finally have a crack at the position he's best suited for.
