All of the ex players are shit commentators. Every single one of them should be used as sparringly as possible in a subject matter expert role only.
They carry too many allegences and biased thoughts to provide a neutral and fair calling on a game. Additionally, most are awkward in front of the camera and are never prepared enough to not come across as stupid.

Peter Sterling is like a rose in rubble. Ex player but excellent commentator, always have time for him.

Commentators having a bias towards their team is completely understandable. It doesn’t bother me at all as long as they can offer good opinions and observations it’s all good.

Bias is inevitable. Fox could do a better job of training their commentators, but that’s a different story. Why is Brandy allowed an opinion but Hodges isn’t?

Yes Thurston handled that very well and knew that they were entitled to their opinion. It’s just that some people won’t stand for certain people being criticised. Like what happened that same weekend when Brown roasted Bennett.
