will the Roosters' premiership triumph inspire other teams to develop rather than buy???

In all seriousness, there was a "where do you live" question posted in the Roosters fan forum on Facebook a few weeks back. The supporter base is really, really, spread out. There were as many replies from Northern NSW / SE Queensland as there were from the Eastern Suburbs itself.

That's not hard. 3 families from Coogee go on holidays to the Gold Coast and the Roosters fans are evenly split between NSW and QLD.

how did we get from discussing the potential of the Roosters' to inspire other clubs to arguing about size of the fanbase? Besides, fanbases are what mediocre clubs talk about because they can't talk about premiership success. Parra have won nothing since 1986, but hey, at least you have a big bandwagon! congrats!!

Except you confused Coogee with Clovely. Thats OK us Eastern Suburbs types can't tell the difference between Balgowlah and Bilgola or Narrabeen and Narraweena for that matter

People jump up and down when the Chooks plunder the best players like Teddy and Cronk but little is said about the young kids.

They apply the same principles when getting the young kids into their junior systems, they pay a lot more. In other words they plunder the junior ranks to.

Of course a winning club is a lot more attractive to a kid than a club on struggle street, but at the end of the day money talks. A few years ago West’s had a gun kid, they offered him 10 grand a year just to play in the juniors, Parra offered him 20g,so West’s matched it..along came the Chooks and offered him 80g, so he signed with the Chooks. As it turned out he never kicked on, but that is what your up against.

Anyway they are the bench mark so it a case of, if you can’t beat them join them
Exactly - they talk about bringing up juniors as if a players career starts only when they step onto a field! All those players who debuted with Roosters are not their juniors, they are the cream that Roosters have plundered from other clubs.

However, that’s only part of the story. In order for this strategy to be as successful as it has been, they need to have:
- The ability to identify the best talent and what attributes are likely to translate into first grade footy.
- The coaching staff to develop, enhance and maintain a players’ skill set to prepare them for first grade.
- Pathways for that young talent to follow to get to first grade, and
- The sheer ruthlessness to create cap space when opportunities arrive (Pearce/Nikorima) and the ability to recognise when one of the investments simply wont pay off long term (Hastings/Nikorima).

That, plus (alleged) under the table payments, is the formula to consistent success and the Roosters have nailed it since 2013.

It genuinely burns me that my club failed in all 5 of the areas mentioned above. On the plus side, if any club was going to be that successful at managing their players I’m glad it’s a fake, soulless club like the Roosters that no one really cares about!

I remember quite a few years ago on ABC grandstand they interviewed Sheens,Ryan and Bennett and spoke about the pros and cons of pouring money into your junior systems. The three of them all agreed that from a dollar and success point of view it is better to plunder the best . In other words pick the ripe fruit from the best shops rather than try and grow it.

They also went onto say football clubs are a lot more than having the best NRL teams, they are about supporting junior teams for our kids of all abilities. In a ideal word your club can be successful in fostering juniors and buying in players to

You're doing pretty well then. Most people on here think Manly's on the North Shore.

The Northern Beaches and North Shore are easily confused
Then there's French's Forest and Belrose, which aren't sure if they're Arthur or Martha

I think it is inspiring to other teams that ‘Sydney roosters’ a club that has only existed since 2000 has such strong development pathways in place

Lomax and Latrell mark each other?

If so, I can't wait to see that dual next year.

That French’s Forest/Forestville/Belrose area is like the attic where the northside keeps its geniused inbred child locked out of sight

Not sure how you figure that. There's a rather distinctive waterway that splits Forestville from Roseville. Crossing the bridges give you a pretty clear indicator that you're moving from the Northern Beaches to the North Shore. In fact, the distinction between the NB and NS is probably more distinct than any other 2 regions in Sydney. Only 3 roads get you off the beaches, 2 of which are bridges.
