If Hopoate is that much of a gamble, why were so many other clubs trying to sign him up for 2014? He'll be 21 when he comes back. Most players that age have only just finished playing Toyota Cup.

Reni Maitua just spent 2 years out of the game, and he was 29 when he came back.

He fit in to NRL footy like he never left.

Far out, this is one hell of a risk. Does anyone remember Albert Hopoate? Absolutley carved it up in the lower grades, gets to the brink of NRL (Obviously not as far as William) goes off and does his 2 year mission and the game had left him behind. 2nd grade Rugby Union was the last i had heard of him. Possibly Penrith?

As for trying to rub it into Manly fans, i doubt that this could upset as they just WON THE COMP! We came a piss-poor 14th! Oh yeah, who's laughing now? They still probably are...
