im sure im in a minority but ill back mason on this one. When you've got a bloke like Willie Mason, saying you need to learn respect then you know you f**ked up, this imo will be a good thing for Williams, he claims he idolises these bloke, then shut up and prove you deserve to be on the same stage as them. Agreed.


The guys (Williams) has talent but he needs to put his head down and prove he isn't a big mouth nobody... He put pressure on himself and team mates with his words and Anasta like the champion he is made him eat those words.

tbh Williams was not all the that disrespectful to begin with. He just said Anasta was not as good as he was a few years back, it was the truth he just picked a bad time to say it and the media blew it out of proporation imo.

As for Mason telling him to show some respect, fair enough I guess. If Williams was bright enough he could have fired some good verbal shots back though.

one thing in williams defence - players generally don't just say these things on their own accord. Journalists probe with ridiculous questions trying to incite players to say things that are newsworthy. When you're being interviewed you feel you have to come up with something to say and because it's on the spot you're going to make mistakes especially if you're new to the game.

Onya Jimmy - 100% agree - I don't give a rats about Williams' or Mason's comments but usually the media can take the medal for twisting or blowing out of proportion comments from guys who are not always skilled in "football speak" and political correctness.

Firstly I cant believe this is newsworthy but then I guess its Mason who makes the headlines for taking hold of a sponsors car without a license. Wouldn't make the general news if he were a nobody.

I applaud Mason for sticking up for his mate. Yes it might seem strange coming from Mase but where during his career hasn't he shown resepect for players of the game and the great ones ? (not saying Anasta is great but compare his career to that of Williams).

Williams needs to pull his head in. Seeing him in his first game pointing at Preston whilst running away for a try was farkin silly and Brown did make a comment about it.
