When you get knocked unconsious and go to hospital with a fractured cheekbone the dobbing may as well be done for you.

If Smith baited him he's a bloody idiot, who the hell is going to bait a guy that is that bloody strong.

If he goes it will be a shame, I really thought we had something good in Williams. Though with how he's acted I can't blame the club if they do axe him.

Damn.
I've been waiting to see JW play live and was hoping he would be on the field in one of the grades against Parra. That is not looking to good at this stage and it's a shame such a talented player is in all this trouble.Get rid of this no name Jeremy Smith and put Jason into counselling, we need an aggresive forward in 1sts and JW will have a reputation now.
I say innocent till found guilty.

The local police keep telling us they have their finger on the pulse in relation to licensed premises. Check out the spin in the Leader.

Therefore, they, by their reckoning, would/should have been informed of any form of assault within the aforementioned hotel by management, thus dobbing is not part of the equation. Things appear to have changed in the liqour industry. Or so we are led to believe. Would the police lead us down the garden path?

I remember a famous pub in the cross where the bouncers wore t shirts proclaiming 'we dont call the police'. But that was long ago.

I would assume there is also video evidence. Only a dope would belt someone in a pub when it is common knowledge your actions are being recorded. Any pub that does not have a top of the range survelliance system is negligent or worse still not 100% behind the so call 'alcohol accord'.

The Sunday Tele on page 9 reckons Williams has faced several serious charges before this one. It really does not look good for the bloke. Despite his talent the club cannot ignore his history and what has happened since he arrived at the club. They have been pretty lienient with they guy to date he has to go IMO which is sad considering what he could have done and that he was a crowd favourite in his first few games.
I have heard other things Williams has done to this Smith guy besides the two reported incidents as well.

serious duck..

duck logic - i doubt Mr Jeremy Smith did too much baiting. Maybe early when they were less well acquaintd but unless he's a simpleton i wouldn't think it logical that he keep on doing what was getting him beaten - repeatedly

duck confusion - why are there some of you wanting to punish the victim by having him leave the club? even if he did egg Mr Williams on lets remember that the charges laid were la de da da da in company. Mr Williams had Mr Accomplice to make sure it was a "job well done". cowardly act to gang up on another.

you can't make a just and right decision on who leaves based on ability, crowd favouritism or hero status. If one of you boys was a youngShark coming through, a bit lippy at times and got continually assaulted by another player who do you would expect to be asked to leave?

Have a look at page 9 of the Sunday Telegraph if you have it Duck. You will see Williams has a history of serious offences. There is more to it than just this incident. It will more likely than not be out of the Sharks hands anyway as I will go out on a limb and put my money is on him recieving a gaol sentence. A big shame yes.

I just read the other Report in the Telegraph and it would appear that the big man has had several prior incidents. One involving possible premeditated knife use. He was also on a suspended Jail sentence while he was playing with us.

Now that I know all the details, I can honestly say it sounds like Jase had what was coming to him.

I still stand by my hopes that things can be reconciled - but it is highly unlikely.

By the way, how about those pictures of him?

In the Telegraph they have a Smiling innocent looking Jeremy Smith with 'Victim' under him. Then they have a picture of Jase with a VERY menacing look on his face and 'Accused' under his.

And for those that wanted to see Williams' tats, buy the Herald. There is a picture of him revealing the lot.

Man-On-Man fighting is a lot more respectable then Sexual Harrasment of an innocent woman while hiding behind a Mobile.

If you read the article, you would have seen it wasn't 2 v 1

I agree with you NCL there are 2 sides to every story and if the one i heard is true then Smith deserves to be punished by the club also :!:

Sadly, Jason is going to serve a custodial sentence here I think.

His suspended gaol term was for serious assault-related offences. I do not know for sure if these involved Jeremy Smith, but I think they did. It seems the blue between them started long before we signed Williams.

He will most probably go to gaol, where he will most probably learn how to assault people with even more vigour than he does now.

We need our esteemed former forumer who shall remain nameless to tell us more about this I think.

Having done crime last session at uni the max penalty for common assualt is 2yrs. It is the charge of GBH which is the worry as the sentance is larger than 2 yrs, and ultimately relates to harm inflicted which in this case is Smiths broken cheek bone.
Add in that this was done while serving a suspended sentance and my money is on Williams going to gaol.

Combined with not being granted bail. Bail is generally not that difficult to get (even though measures are now in place to make it harder). It does not look good for Williams.

While I think the club has done the right thing by cancelling his contract, I hope they don't dump him completely on his own in a moral sense. I know that a few people connected with the club are already making plans (off their own bat) to see him while he's being held pre-trial, so I hope the club offers some formal support as well.

That doesn't have to be legal help or anything, just some HELP. Visits, counselling for his family, whatever. The sad thing is, there will be other victims here other than Jeremy Smith.

NCL, we're getting ahead of ourselves here, but what's your tip on the level of security he'd be held under, assuming he's nailed on the GBH?

Would he be eligible for a prison farm (very low security) or would he go to a more traditional gaol?
