You WIN possession from a kick in Union because you have forced the opposing team into a position where the have to kick defensively to get out of their danger zone, all other kicks are attacking, just like when a league team is on attack.

Its not that much different to league when you have forced a team onto their own tryline and they have props and locks hit it up the guts to get out of their red zone, then on the 5th they kick. I'd say the opposition has WON possession there too.

Winning possession in rugby is not a hard thing to do. Full stop.

Seriously I think people's opinions on Union are blinded but the crapness of the wallabies. God sakes will people stop referring to the ARU as Union, Union is a sport not a governing body of one particular nation. Union doesn't fail to produce talent, the ARU fails to produce talent. Union isn't farked, the ARU are farked as indicated by how well the wobblies went last year.

If anyone watches the all blacks, thats how exciting union can be, joe Rokocoko has scored 30 tries in 30 tests on the end of an all black backline.

100% correct. You have hit the nail on the head. People are starting to realise its boring and overpriced aswell. Everyone I know excited about going to the rugby because of the advertising/marketing comes away dissapointed and says exactly what is said above.

Going to the rugby?

Have you ever stopped to consider what the "R" in "NRL" stands for?

The word I like to use for union is "antiquated". The reason Soccer is a smash hit world wide is due to its simplicity...something the rugger buggers like to denigrate League for. The thing is, they have got too clever for themselves and developed a game with rules that are not clever or technically superior, but stifling and frivolous.

****

Spot on.

And aswell Gasnier or Tonga going to Union would absolutely carve it up.
Their aren't many good outside centres apart from Umaga and O'Driscoll who could keep up with Gaz.
Tonga? Are you serious? Can you imagine Ma'a Nonu running at him?
There are quite a few outside centres coming through, Anthony Tuitavake, Ma'a Nonu, Jean De Villiers, Jacque Fourie, etc.
At the end of the day Union is a different kind of game, who knows how guys like Gasnier and Tonga would do working from a standing start, put under pressure to retain possession, etc.

Have you seen some of these guys actually play?
Nonu - He's a big lump of a player but he's nothing more than a crash ball specialist. Theres a reason why he's been kept on the wing and Conrad Smith a less physical player has started over him in the centres.
De Villiers - Not even an outside. Don't know how you could put him in your arguement.
Fourie - Look I rate him but not that highly. At international level he looks out of his depth and doesn't have a great deal of pace. Good tackler though.
Tuitavake - Good up and comer.

The best outside centres in on form are -
1. Umaga
2. O'Driscoll
3. Mortlock

And they are getting on. Gasnier and Tonga would tear other outside centres around the world apart.

Gasnier and Tonga have never taken off or worked from a standing start or been under pressure to retain possession...Is this your argument?

Try watching some rugby league for a change.

They apply those skills in every match they play.
