WIN Corporation

That time period was going from when St George had last won a premiership through to the end of the time period Saints Forever picked as the period of success.

Given it’s close to co-inciding with the 1982-1998 period where St George tried to go it alone without the support of Illawarra I can see why people keep confusing it with a Steelers thing.

Muzby old man St George didn’t “try to go it alone”, they were without question a stand-alone club, and a very successful one.

20 grand finals in 40 years, countless premierships and minor premierships.

Far more successful than WIN has been in business.

Though I must say if we maintain McGregor as coach we will finally join the Steelers in adding the spoon to our trophy cabinet.

Clearly shows that United we stand, divided we fall.

I dunno.. I look at silverware as the winners trophy/trophies..

As much as I enjoyed seeing the dragons take out the Minor premiership in 2009 & 2010, outside of the teams supporters I don’t know how many people would know who finished top of the ladder after a few years..

And losing a grand final sucks, but again after a while people begin to forget who came 2nd..

Thankfully WIN Corp’s ability in business is in no way similar to your ability to manage the quote function today, so we’ll see out this NRL shutdown.

When the comp restarts I hope you’ll join me in cheering on the Illawarra Dragons.

That's a loaded question.

ST GEORGE
1984: Club Champions
1985: Minor Premiers (all three grades), Runners up, Club Champions
1992: Runners up
1993: Runners up
1996: Runners up

That actually counts as silverware. Shall we see how many times Illawarra won a Club Championship or appeared in a grand final during this same period? I know they scored themselves at least three wooden spoons.

Bear in mind that besides a distinct inability to comprehend the most basic things, terms such as silverware and success are foreign terms to ol’ Muzby.

I’m unsure whether a runners up in any given year receives something tangible as recognised though.

Don't think for a moment that I'm taking sides in your argument with another forum member.

St George did make
85 GF & minor premiers all 3 grades
And grand final all 3 grades
92 GF beat by a Broncos team when no salary cap existed
93 Gf same as 92
96 GF against Manly
I call that success and what great teams and coaches we had.
Roy Masters, Brian Smith and David Waite.

Actually, the salary cap DID exist in 1992/‘93. From memory, it was approximately $1.5m per club.

This has remained a source of angst and frustration for me. Considering Brisbane had 16 out of 17 rep players (SOO and international) during those years, I don’t understand how it could possibly be salary cap compliant. More importantly, why an investigation into the above wasn’t held.

I hope so.

don’t jump to conclusions we have to wait and see on many things at the moment.

Just remember it is possible that we emerge from this with 100% WIN ownership, or 0%. Or no club at all.

Since they own half of the JV and have divergent investments, we will be much more likely to have the capacity to weather the current financial uncertainty than if we were only supported by a leagues club.
Crap..

WIN can just cut their losses and give their shares the St George Leagues Club on the condition that we retain the name St George Illawarra for the next 10 years.

Our new CEO will then have a free hand to clean up the mess. See you later Mary and Millward. Goodbye Aitken, Lafai, K Sims, Dufty, Sailor and Merrin. Then start to build a good squad for 2021.

I sincerely believe that money will be in scarce supply this time next year , so building a decent squad may have to be done by using I.O.U’s .

As with most of your posts, this is good in theory...
