Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Syrah. A long term favourite of mine, more people need to drink this stuff

'08 was an awesome red vintage over there as well. There's not much quality difference between the 08 and 09 Amys, both are excellent from memory

Well, after a bottle of Spinifex Esprit 2008 Shriaz Grenache Mataro, 200mL of Naked Scot Scotch at the movies watching the US remake of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (if you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour and get your arse to the movies), and a 4 pack of Knappstein Lager (2 prior to the Spinifex and another 2 after the whisky back at home), it's time for the Moss Wood Amy's Cabernet blend. Update to follow.

Edit: Good call Baz, brilliant dry red the Amy's. I am a big fan of Petit Verdot too (on top of Cabernet), so this wine fulfills a lot of happy thoughts. I've been a big critic of Margaret River, the juice out of there sub $25 for me has been quite green / under-ripe. It's good to know that investing solid $$$ into a Margaret River red wine reaps big rewards (kind of like the current crop of Tasmanian Pinot Noir's).

Sounds like a night Vince.

Picked up some Tar & Roses Heathcote shiraz @ Sth Tweed. In a 6 bottle buy came to about $13.90 a bottle. Best value shiraz I have come across & believe me I have tried few.

It's a cracker wine IMO, and can be found for sub $35 at times, which is madness.

Tossing up between a Picardy Merlot/Cabernets 2008, a Scotchmans Hill 2010 Pinot and a Stefano Lubiana 08 Pinot for tonight....

Yeah, I've decided on the Scotchmans...it's my last 08 Stefano, so I'll hold onto it for a while :p

Having a bottle of Some Young Punk's "Monsters, Monsters Attack!" Riesling. I'm a big fan of dry Rieslings, and at best this one is off-dry. But that extra sweetness doesn't take away from it as a drink. Lemon sherbet and grass notes immediate, with a slight acidity on the finish.

Sounds like a night Vince.

Yeah, it was a top night. Shit Monday though...

Big fan of the Monsters....quite a bit sweeter than I normally like, but light enough in alcohol and enough acid to carry it off. Cracker for summer

Considering cracking a bottle this evening. Flooded in & cant get to work, real shame!!

Tossing up between BVE black pepper shiraz, Henschke Keyneton Euphonium. Leaning towards KE & leave the BVE to partner a nice piece beef on the BBQ.

Probably let Mrs Johns decide.

If you're still looking for some quality Spanish reds SGL, I am having a Cien Y Pico Knights Errant at the moment. It's a big, black, super concentrated old vine garnacha from Manchuela. Super rich and silky, deep black fruit, warm winter spices, artful oak handling, bittersweet chocolate...it's not a cheapy (around $40-$60) but I can very, very highly recommend it

Is it the Hellhole Semillon? Not sure if they've released any other 2010s yet. Tried it with the rep, I would give it at least 5 years, if not 10. It's very clean and acidic
