I've had the video ref arguement a thousand times with a thousand people, and I'll never be convinced that it is necessary, its either a try or its not. Its a computer game, so there is the possibility that it can be 'perfect' in its decision making, unlike a real ref. And I certainly don't want calls being deliberately wrong like in Madden so the video review has some use.
If I could have anything fixed, I'd have passing a little more fluid so you can have smoother backline movements, players run in support better, and pass to the flat man rather than a long way backwards to the fullback in some backline movements. I'd also love to see a huge franchise mode with great depth in trades, salary cap, player progression, injuries, lower grades, etc... and a lot more stats, all judged out of 100 rather than 10, to make the game more individual. More accurate stats too, I'm sorry, but most of the stats for this game are off.
Theres been one snowy game ever, I dont think we need that.
I'd also like yes, for better grand final rewards, whether its unlocking some more good stuff, like classic teams, classic matches or extra modes of play, and a decent cutscene or two for winning big games, even if it is your players just doing a lap and standing on the podium, with Vossy talking about how great your team has done.
If it wanted to get really tricky, and this is something no sports game has done extensively yet (it'd need to be on the PC and Xbox versions only), is save highlights of your season, great tries, big hits, etc... and then, if, and only if, you win the grand final, you get a montage of your season played back as a reward. This could also work for a post game wrapup or something like that, but I think it'd have more impact if it was the reward for winning the final.
Shit, that's a good idea actually. Damn.
