Will be a great signing if it comes off. Allow him to offload and have people following and we have a weapon. 3 man rotation with fifi and prior will do a nice job.

Barba will enjoy that offload next season.

Woods is coming into his prime. He was happy dicking around at a shit club because he could play origin. He went to the dogs to play finals and get a big pay day. Dogs are rooted for years.

If he is serious about becoming a better player and winning stuff he will go well.

This is classic Flanno business. Get a bloke with a point to prove on a cut price deal.

I am not a great fan of woods but he can play good minutes, make yards and offload. If Flanno gets him playing tough he will be great for Fifita and will allow Gallen to play less minutes.

If we get him i doubt Gallen will still be here, i am thinking both Lewis/Gall last year

If I get one of those new cheap guernsey for next year from fake_jerseys they give me an option of getting a name printed on the back.

I am so undecided over this.

I don't know to go with Aaron Farrar or Vincey Woods.

Lots didn't want Ennis
Lots didn't want Barba
Lots didn't want Lee
You guys have got your love blinkers on.

Woods will do nothing for you and by saying he will change once he is in your colours sounds desperate to me.

I cannot believe the Sharks are about to sign a bloke who is softer than melted butter, turns his back to offload and doesn't belong on the same park as Lewis, Fafita and Gallen.

He will not change, he is what he is.

One bad apple spoils the lot.

Don't slam me, wait and see, if I am wrong you can slam me in July.

Remember, his name is Sharon, not Aaron.

The problem with Woods is what we will need to pay him in years 2 & 3.
He is on $800k at the Bulldogs (massive overs for his current performances).
Let's say the Dogs subsidise half of that for the first year - all good so far.
But the Dogs aren't going to kick the tin for next year - they are trying to create cap space.

So Woods will want the full $800k for years 2 & 3.
Would anyone be comfortable having Woods as our highest paid forward, in front of Fifi for example ?
I sure as hell wouldn't - $500k max for mine.

You are well entitled to your opinion, but on this one I disagree.

Cronulla has a really strong history in developing forwards and bringing out their very best - in previous post, I referenced Kade Snowden, Andrew Fifita and Matt Prior as good examples of players who have played their best football for Cronulla.

If he joins he will have an opportunity to play semi-final football for only the second time in his career, so he will be motivated. Unlike the Bulldogs, he wouldn't be considered as a marquee player so there won't be the same spot light on performance.

His move from the Tigers to the Bulldogs was all about the money, now he can re-focus and get back to playing his best football in a team that should be pressing hard for a semi-final position.

I think he will flourish in our team and Flanno will improve his game out of sight.

There’s no way Flanno would be interested in that sort of deal Omni.

Pretty sure when we had Barba the Broncos were paying a fair chunk for each year of his contract.

I’m assuming it would be the same with Woods contract.

If he came across this year I would think we would only have to pay $200k As the year is half over so 400 is owed to him, with us taking 50%.
The Bulldogs want to make it as good a deal for themselves as possible, so I'm guessing they may have to throw in 200k for the next couple of years and we pay $600k.
I could be very wrong of course, I usually am.

I think we only had to pay 200k of 600k for the first two years of Barbas contract. The last year was going to be full freight to us but we know how that turned out...

I think there was a report BBB that the Sharks only wanted to pay half of what he was on and the Dogs weren’t happy about that. So yeah might have to pay 50k to 100k more than that to seal a deal.

I think he is absolute rubbish. How that bloke played origin and Australia is beyond me.

I don’t want him at the club, but if he is I’ll cheer and try not to vomit when he runs out.
I’m not convinced that he can be fixed nor be a good fit for the style Shane wants to play.

Im neither here nor there on Woods.
Yes, on his day he is a big body who makes a lot of meters.
He is also a notoriously lazy defender.

This is a typical Flanno signing though.
Other team tipping in money, forward, coming into his peak years.
We could do worse, we could do better.
I'll back Flanno to turn him back into a rep player.

BBB even if the Dogs agree to throw in $200k for 2019 & 2020 (which I don't think they will) ...

Would you be happy paying Woods $600k for the next 2 years ?
What would Fifi think ?
What would Wade think ?
What would Matty Prior think for that matter ... I think it could upset team harmony.

$600k is marquee money for a prop ... and Woods isn't a marquee player for mine.

That's a fair call but I don't know what all those players are getting. I would think that Prior is the lowest paid out of that lot.
I do know that our cap management is one of the best in the league (Frenz and Coif please don't bring up Holmes, we have enough threads about it).
We've shown in the past, when sniffing out a deal, that we usually get value for the dollar.

Doubt Sharks would pay 600k.

They might come up a little from their offer of 400k to 450k but no way they pay 600k.

The only reason Woods interests the Sharks is because they can get him at a great discount.
