PENRITH today confirmed Newcastle prop Adam Woolnough had agreed to a three-year deal to join the Panthers from the 2008 NRL season.
Woolnough, 25, will be at the Panthers until the end of 2010 after spending the past six seasons at Newcastle.
He is one of several players expected to leave Newcastle at the end of this season, following Clint Newton, who walked out this week to join Melbourne until the end of the season.

Dammit. Im gonna miss Wooly he was one of my favourite players. Im glad his going to a club that I like.

8. Clinton
9. Priddis
10. Woolnough
11. Pulletua
12. Pritchard
13. Waterhouse

If they dont win games with that pack then Matty Elliot isnt a genius like i first thought.

Yep, its been coming for weeks.

From what i hear the contract is close to 200k which is fugging cheap IMO.

I was not happy when I heard Woolnough was leaving the Knights. I know he has some detractors on these forums, but I've always liked him.
As someone said, at least he's joined a club I like. I would be seriously pissed off if he joined a Brisbane or Canterbury or Roosters. I wish him well.

As for Brian Smith: you've lost points with me, mate.

No surprise, good luck to him though. He's a consistent player with being brilliant. Seems we're gonna replace him with a brilliant but inconsistent player in Ryles.

wooly's departure is the only one i was worried about.. but smith has been so strongly on the money with everything else thus far that i'm not about to doubt him on this one. he's earnt enough trust in my mind now that i can let this one slide.

but geez... you'd have to think that wooly would be easily worth 200k. i would have been happy for him to stay for that price.

let the exodus continue.

If he's got good money from Penrith, good on him. He ain't worth it for a bench forward IMO.

Thats right on the money IMO.

He is just a bench forward. Nothing special just solid.

And i agree aswell JM, Newton and Perry were far better than Wolly.

I'm reserving judgement on B. Smith til all is said and done. But Steve Crowe said we we're extremely unlikely to sign Ryles (audio interview Knights site). Seems more likely we'll sign players that are neither consistent or brilliant.

A bench forward for Newcastle-yes.
A starting forward for penriff-Absolutely,when you consider clinton and waterhouse leaving.(Plus, penriff are crap.)

Well he is a starting forward for Newcastle.

He has just been dropped to the bench because hes going. I thought that bit was pretty obvious?
