Mal considering using both DCE and Cleary, merkin needs to grow a set of balls and tell DCE he is shit and played his last game for Australia.

He has had a terrible international career. His win rate for Australia was below 77% before this World Cup. That's with 5 matches off the bench for 5 wins boosting his stats. Since being promoted to the starter his win rate is 50% (not including this year).

As a starting half he has played 4 matches against New Zealand for 3 losses and a win. Against Tonga he has played two matches for a loss and a win.

25% win rate against the team we will face in week 2 of the finals. 50% win rate against Tonga. This is beyond terrible for the strongest rugby league team.

Loss 1 vs NZ: Inglis, DCE, Cronk and Smith. vs Hiku, Foran, Johnson and Leuluai
Loss 2 vs NZ: Inglis, DCE, Cronk and Smith vs Hiku, Foran, Johnson and Luke
Loss 3 vs NZ: Tedesco, Keary, DCE and Cook vs DWZ, Johnson, Nikorima and B. Smith
Loss 4 vs Tonga: Tedesco, Munster, DCE and Cook vs Hopoate, Lolohea, Staggs and Salivi

Like those Australian spines absolutely shit on the spine of the opposition. The fullbacks in the opposition spines alone would have had Nathan Cleary licking his lips knowing he can win the game and dominate field position with his kicks alone.

If you play both then DCE has to start. You can't use him off the bench.

Cleary on the other hand could do a number of jobs. With his defence I'd use the bloke to play backrow in a pinch. But then the bench becomes a bit light if use Grant.

I thought his Australian career was over after the Tonga loss. He was useless in the final 10 minutes of that game.

Cleary at back row would be a crime against football.

Why would you risk the second best player in the game defending in the middle, especially with Ben Hunt or Harry Grant at hooker who are not dominant defenders.

Hopefully we may get some contests now we are getting to the business end of the RLWC. Up till now it really has been a pointless exercise.

In reality its not going to happen.

But if I was forced to pick DCE, Munster, Grant and Hunt then I'd find some way to inject Cleary. Big enough body and defensively sound. Into the backrow you go buddy.

Jane, everyone knows it is a no brainer really but Mal is Queensland thru and thru so it would not surprise in the least if he opts for the DCE - Munster combination. He lost me when he didn’t select the form fullback in our own Dylan Edwards.

Mal should change his names to Richard Cranium

He needs to play the game, There is a World Cup to win. A HIA rules a player out for the next game.

He has to play it so DCE doesn't drop his head and is right to go if needed

Edwards problem was he is a fullback only, Depth players in these tours need to play extra positions

As I said at the time, I understood why there was no position for Dylan, obviously selecting players who can play in numerous positions. Form meant nothing, despite what was said by Mal and Daley in the lead up. Just don’t come out and make statements about form if Dylan never had a chance, which clearly he didn’t. The side was picked before the GF so don’t talk shit getting the kids hopes up.

He was clearly next up, Hence on the stand by and wanting him to stay up incase he was called on. Man management is a huge part of coaching these days. Happens to be Mal's biggest strength
