He needs to play the game, There is a World Cup to win. A HIA rules a player out for the next game.

He has to play it so DCE doesn't drop his head and is right to go if needed

Edwards problem was he is a fullback only, Depth players in these tours need to play extra positions
Pretty certain Edwards played on the wing.

Not picking Edwards was the right call. Teddy is the fullback and there’s plenty of cover, why waste a spot. Tough but the right call.

DCE is fine to be in the squad and fine to get some games against minnows but it should never have been a question on who the first choice was. Cleary is the clear best halfback in the game along with being the future. The dumb thing is, if Mal wimps out and picks DCE, the Kangaroos will win anyway, on the strength of the rest of the spine, and there’ll be idiots that feel justified in the decision.

QLD wins State of Origin on adrenaline, good fortune and Lang park Crowd, they get majority of Kangaroo spots and don’t play as well for Oz. Forget who said it but Qlders should wear maroon jersey under green and gold.

10 of the 17 in the side are NSWmen.

Outside of the bizarre DCE/Cleary thing, none of the QLDers there don’t deserve to be. If Mal can grow a set and punt DCE for Martin in this 17 it’ll be bang on.

If you're going to treat Origin as a selection trial for the Australian side, shouldn't you play it right before the Australian side is selected, not half a season before?

Its only Lebannon and Hunt played 80 last game and has played in every game so far. I daresay come the real games it will be hunt on the bench and Nathan at 7 and DCE left right out.

Hunt had months off. This is Mal too scared to pull the trigger

Looks like Murray has also pushed Yeo out wide haha. Yeo is a top 5 player in the world at 13 but he's not rep quality out wide.

I think he is definitely reluctant to just drop DCE. I think he is just giving him one last game rather than just dropping him outright, Hunt resting is a convenient excuse. If Nathan plays half in the next game then he has pulled the trigger regardless of DCE being on the bench, Mal wont be making changes to the halves after this game.

Surely not. Even the space cadet plays Murray at Second Row and Yeo at Lock in Origin.
I'd be going 11 Crichton, 12 Murray, 13 Yeo, with Martin at 17 to play edge or middle depending on needs.

I’ve gained some respect for Mal only bloke who calls it like it is and doesn’t suck up to Cleary

he knows the media are gonna be all over him and pushing for him to get sacked since he didn’t select the golden boy at halfback
