The exposure of the 2008 World Cup has reached dizzy heights-record heights, to be precise.
The World Cup media consultant Lynton Taylor announced today that the World Cup will be beamed into 100 countries with a reach of 83 million homes!
Rugby League has never had such saturation exposure on the world stage.
This number will increase once we sign up India and Canada, said Mr Taylor. We could well be sending the World Cup into one million homes.
Mr Taylor said the money was secondary in negotiating television rights with the 100 countries.
The aim was to derive maximum exposure and we have achieved that, he said.
I am confident we will get India and Canada to further boost the coverage, the majority of it live.
All the African countries, all of the Middle East, Brazil, Singapore, Indonesia, Italy, Spain, Russia and the United States have agreed to take the RLIF Host Broadcast coverage to be produced by the Nine Network and Fox Sports.
BSkyB and BBC in the UK has also made a massive commitment to cover the World Cup that starts in Townsville on 25 October when England play Papua New Guinea.
There is nothing in Rugby League history that comes within cooee of the media coverage for the 2008 World Cup.
Never has the game been afforded to ply its wares on such a massive international stage.
Mr Taylor, highly experienced and equally respected in media negotiations, has triggered the distinct possibility of the game being snapped up by new markets.
