Any 3 chord playin so called modern "punk" bands that try to look all tough and all
but sing about gay sh*t. Punk was the late 70's early 80's stuff like sex pistols real messy and raw soundin stuff. Blondie is even more Punk than the sh*t today.

The worst album I recall actually listening to was one by Flash and the Pan.

Haha, how's this for a memory refresher... Relive the nightmare at no extra charge...

Artist: Flash And The Pan
Song Title: Down Among The Dead Men

It was night
A starry moonless sight
Out in the mid Atlantic
There sailed a ship of light
She was big This ship of luxury
Everything was peaceful
No safer place to be

And she sailed
Through the night
On her way
Down among the dead men
Down among the dead men
The band played
She sailed the virgin
She sailed the sea
Down among the dead men

Captain Smith
The master in command
A man with wealth of wisdom
A fine upstanding man
But the fog He didn't hear the calls
The ice mountain was waiting
For fifteen hundred souls

And she sailed
Through the night
On her way Down among the dead men
Down among the dead men
The band played
She sailed the virgin
She sailed the sea
Down among the dead men
Down among the dead men
And into history

Of course, this group had a few albums, so this classic (yeah, what can I say, I dig it) may not have been on the album you so loathed. :p

Or this one even

Artist: Flash And The Pan
Song Title: Hey St. Peter
Album:
[Buy " " CD]

The morning was cold and lonely
City lights old and grey
The sun arose trying to smile
Gave it all away
The honky-tonk called a stranger
The stranger couldn't pay the bill
Made a stand, raised his hand
Sang a song, no time to kill

I said, Hey, hey, hey, St. Peter
I've got a tale to tell
I've just been down in New York town
It really feels like hell
It really feels like hell

Billy was out of fashion
Manhattan was years ago
Yesterday he wasted time
Money was kind of slow
Billy had friends of glory
Billy was a friend of fame
Took a chance, raised his hand
Sang a song, now he's back in the game

Hey, St. Peter
Before you ring your bell
Just been down in New York town
Done my time in hell
Done my time in hell

I said, Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, St. Peter
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, St. Peter
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, St. Peter
It really feels like hell
It really feels like hell
It really feels like hell

lol

That song is pretty good. I had two albums, one with that on it.

But the rest of the album was crap. I remember thinking when I was listening that these guys had conned anyone who bought the album.

The old Chicago X trick, have a hit single and fill an Album with crap, that way you sell albums to the suckers who bought your single.

The two CD's were sold on the internet to unsuspecting Yanks.

Yep, this is a well-worked craft that has been particularly lucrative for ageing stars in the twilight of their careers.

Greatest Hits packages certainly do have a lot to recommend them, for many artists, anyaway...

Of course, I've also found that you have to beware the post-greatest Hits offering, as often the decision to release a 'best of' package is a firm indicator that the artist in question has bottomed-out creatively.

I suppose I should try and answer the question asked in the thread...

Its hard, because a) there's been a lot of crap put out, b) I do tend to think positively about these issues and c) in accordance with this, its easier to look at your CD collection and remember the good stuff.

As such...

You could bang in pretty much anything under the hip hop banner.

Avril Lavigne's album... As talentless a musician as she is an awful human being!

Anything by Mariah Carey!

Everything by Metallica!

Nothing like keeping things broad

It's a Sunshine Day ~ The Brady Bunch

Anything by the Brady Bunch sucks.

Biggest disappointment (artist completely failing to meet expectations inspired by previous albums)

"River of Dreams" Billy Joel.
Glasshouses and Innocent Man were good and I even liked the song "River of Dreams" but the rest of that album was as much fun to listen to as fingernails dragging on a blackboard.

Pete Murray - Feelers.
The youth of today has been fooled into believing this mediocre TWAT is original. Its an insult to the ears that this absolute shite is played on the radio. Oh my GOD it is awful. Please kill me now.....

I also hate manufacured music where performers are given the songs to sing by their record companies and don't actually write anything themselves.

Irony is a wonderful thing.

Do you know who Malcolm McLaren is?

The Sex Pistols were manufactured...

Flash and the Pan were actually Vanda and Young (and a few other hangers on I think), the talent behind the Easybeats, so they had a decent pedigree.
