LOL, an "ordinary player"? Granted, he's not a natural half but he has been outstanding in the position for two seasons now.
No, he's been average. In a well-coached Dragons team playing low-risk footy that's been good enough.
Here's the stats for an 'outstanding' playmaker:

There was never any argument he was the game's best halfback, but to call him "ordinary" is bitter opposition fan dribble.
No it's a fact, supported by stats (and observation if you like, since Hornby's been mentioned in this thread). Of course nobody's saying he's the best, and I don't think he's the worst either, but he is smack bang in between the two extremes.
I think the reason he was brought him up is that people are amazed the Dragons were able to win a premiership with such average halves.
It certainly gives me hope, as a Parra fan, that we can have some success this year playing the same grindy style, and just relying on the halves to catch and pass.
Darius Boyd topped LBAs at the Dragons, and Parramatta's fullback is twice the playmaker he is.
Just like mentioning "what if" Melbourne were in the finals last year: a ridiculous, pointless concept.
Not at all.
With the Melbourne Storm 'team of champions' dominating all these years, it was good to see the 'champion team' finally get a chance to win something with Melbourne disqualified from the finals.
With a lot of game-breakers gone this year, Parramatta's a lot more like the Dragons than the Storm. Hopefully our new coach turns out to be as good at club level as he has been for the Kiwis and we could be the mediocre team that lifts the premiership trophy. Our halves would only have to play as well as Hornby and Soward, which will be easier than them having to play as well as Pearce and Carney.
