Warriors should suss out a number of players for next season, including:

Rangi Chase: 6,7 9
Josh Lewis (titans): 6, 7

Chase offers heaps of creative spark out 6,7 or 9. A very good attacking kicking game - would need to develop long kicking game further if he would be the main playmaker.

Josh Lewis - this guy has one of the best kicking games in the NRL (or should I say QLD cup right now) both long and attacking. He also has the a killer passing game.

He basically has what it takes and like Chase and hasnt been backed - which is what happens when your not a local junior etc.
When he arrived at titans last year he drastically improved them - Scott Prince runs the show at titans and basically wants to be the main man - which is why he called for non-playmaker in rogers and harrison.

Rovelli - is gone.

Witt - I would flick him also if I found a replacement - which would not be that hard considering all he does kick goals.

Um, I think he can do more than that....

Josh Lewis? :?

Lewis actually wouldn't be the worst buy, however and I will say this in the best possible way..he is more a 5/8 than a halfback. Why the Warriors showed no interest in Matt Head last year I'll never know.

Because Cleary will refuse to admit that he was wrong with Rovelli. Ravs needs to go back to where he started at the Warriors, as a interchange hooker.

Cleary needs to show some balls and drop him. Honestly by leaving him there it

a) hurts the team as he is currently producing nothing

b) hurts Rovelli as he gets down on confidence.

Who are your back up halfbacks both for the Vulcans at the U20"S. Which one is MOST ready?

aaron heremaia has been performing really well at 7, and is the captain of the vulcans. the only reason why he isnt playing coz he has got a contract.... if wiki leaves, he will be straight in there. i hope.

o'regen is a 20 yo 6/locke, bigger player with a sollid kicking game. good defender. (remember we need a 6 also atm)

isaac john, has potential, would think its too early to bring him in.

jody henry, a real halfback, able too control the game well. but same as ^^^

Agree 100% Eddie.
I suggested last week Cleary try:
7. Fien
9. Rovelli
14. Henderson.
All in the team and just positional changes. See if the team goes better.

jody's ready.

We had Jody playing for the Bay last week against Rewa, very sharp distribution skills and elusive running, I was really impressed. Rewa had Heremaia as well, he tended to take the line on and chip on the last whereas Jody seemed to prefer keeping the ball in hand close to the tryline and use long cut out passing. Different playing styles, both worked well. Jody had the better game and made a huge difference to a struggling Bay side but Rewa were the better team and are usually that good so I don't know how much of a difference Aaron made.

Incidentally, neither halfback played this week so maybe they were both injured.

I think I can see Cleary's problem. Ravs tries hard. He is just in the wrong position. (As are a few of the current team.)
He gives his best so Cleary keeps picking him.
Ravs was bought as a hooker/ half. His ability is in his broken field running and support play. He looks great running onto passes from his forwards - when was the last time we saw one of those?
His passing is adequate but his vision and kicking are poor. Also he is not a great talker or motivator.
In short is is a better hooker than halfback.

Give him a chance at hooker. Give Fien or Henderson a run at half. See if this produces any spark.

The only things this has brought to the fore are our desperate need for a specialist hooker and Cleary's preferance for playing people out of position rather than promoting a specialist.

Many on this forum have said for a long time Ropati is a centre - full stop. He proved this conclusively on Sunday.

We need a halfback - and not an ex-roosters reserve grader!

Heremaia is definately class - he quite well rounded. And is a better player than Henry. He not big but much more physical than Ravs and Henry. Can easily cover 6,7 and 9.

Jody Henry - he got 'dropped' from the u/20s. Not enough organising - that he playing too much ad lib. Though I expect him to be back because they look much better with him. I hope he gets brought back in.

As for Heremaia - I've heard he cant afford to go across aussie every weekend and will play only vulcans home games. Warriors please sign him on a second-tier contract or something.
playing for rewa in fox.

Isaac John - not nrl ready like jessup reckons. I like parts of his game but not much of fan tbh - he seems more worried about looking like a gun 5/8 than playing like one. id like some of the other kiwis halves in NYC over John.

forget hooker - ravs is a halfback or nothing. Why feel sorry for him.

I'm not feeling sorry for him. It's us I'm feeling sorry for.
I agree with your earlier summation about the other halfbacks around but Cleary can't see past Ravs, so I thought I would give him an option to improve the half position whilst still retaining Ravs.
THIS SQUAD ISN'T WORKING.
Cleary has to make some hard choices. Picking the same players week after week will improve nothing.

Even though I said Jody played better in the game against Aaron I still believe Aaron is currently the better all round halfback and has an older, wiser head on his shoulders.

Jody Henry - he got 'dropped' from the u/20s. Not enough organising - that he playing too much ad lib. Though I expect him to be back because they look much better with him. I hope he gets brought back in.

The line we got was that the U20s were rotating players and Cameron had only had one other run this year. They lost to Canberra who topped the table at the time, by 6 with Jody at the helm whereas Penrith thrashed the Warriors U20s with Angus in charge. You could argue that Issac John is a better halfback than Jody on the strength of the Roosters game (which I missed BTW) but the Roosters have been bad all year and Issac would've got a lot more room to operate so you'd need to see how he goes against the top teams. Jody was definately carrying an injury as well and needed a 10 minute rest mid game for us.

You've really hit on something there. Vulcans pay $250 a win which would equate to $125 a week roughly and the players would have to miss a day's work for every away game so they're practically playing for free. There's players in the Mt Albert Lions rumoured to be taking $400 - $600 a win and they never lose so who do you think most players are going to play for? Some of the clubs are making their boys stand down to bolster the team's Fox chances as well. Even though Rewa aren't going that well, if Aaron takes $400 a win he's $200 better off each week. I doubt the Warriors haven't considered bringing him into the fold already.

Isaac John - not nrl ready like jessup reckons. I like parts of his game but not much of fan tbh - he seems more worried about looking like a gun 5/8 than playing like one. id like some of the other kiwis halves in NYC over John.

I haven't seen him play since Bartercard and never at halfback, sounds like he was good this week but like I reckon theres Fox teams that could beat the Roosters U20s.

Must be a blue moon.....I agree with mmm, John is nowhere near NRL level, and I seriously doubt he ever will be.

Yeah, maybe that's a stretch LOL. Mind you, if the Lions had their Vulcans boys onboard at Fowlds would you put your money on the Roosters U20s?

Wonder what happened to their pre season phenom, Mose Masoe?
