They have finally put together an intelligent and competitive interstate members package. It's taken way too long, but sanity has finally prevailed.

There has been an option for people to autopay from month to month that might roll from season to season.

Either way - not cool.

Is that how Man U or the Yankees or any other sports organisation would operate?
This club continues to embarass at every turn.
Not good enough.

Why does the merchandise that comes with the membership packs always have a defaced logo with MEMBER and the year on it? Is it that hard to just use the normal Wests Tigers logo...

Actually it's exactly how those organisations operate and how every nrl club now operates . Last year when people signed up they got to choose auto renewal or not - I know because I chose it. Then 2 weeks ago an email was sent out saying it would auto renew and if you didn't want it too then you had both an online option and a phone option. Then they auto renewed as people agreed too. It's how almost every organisation worth it's salt in the world works, just because a few idiots either forgot they chose it last year, didn't read it last year and ignored the email or had changed email since isn't the tigers fault as it's how professional organisations run

So my point is... they signed me up over the phone an elected to put me on a rollover membership without even asking or explaining that option. Oversight or deliberately who knows.

Exact same happened to me. Phone order, no email, automatic reenrolment. They cancelled it at least when I called.

And when I canceled and mentioned I may still rejoin with a package that suits me .. they said most packages have changed to check them out first. ... why then should they re sign me on something that may be nothing like my last years one ? Typical amateur crap from this club from top to bottom.

Its a sleazy and unethical cash grab aimed at catching people out.
And it is working.

I checked with my mum and dad who are in their eighties who signed up last year basically to support the club altho they never attend games, and yep they got the email to say they had been charged again for next year ... BUT if I hadnt have mentioned it to them they wouldnt have noticed due to their age and not being so computer savy. My dads first reaction was they can stick it up their arse .. wont be a member again.
Pathetic way to treat ppl.... I can live with it but screwing pensioners is f**ked and the club needs to offer a massive apology.

Like any purchase, can't you demand a refund if you haven't yet used it (or received any value or goods from it yet)?

I believe it was similar to anti virus programs and other things - like the AV programns that offer a free tool bar, but you have to uncheck a box not to recieve it...same with the auto renewal, was apparently right at the end and easy to miss...was easy to auto renew without knowing

Something new and as important as this should be clearly brought to the consumers attention....early in the transaction.
The fact so many have been caught out is what makes it smell. A touch of sneakiness about it.
