I understand all that, but the best way to show your dislike is to just demand a refund and complain to the club about the system.

Sounds like a massive con to me.

The thing is ink , they have done it also to people who signed up over the phone , and in mine and my parents instance not once did ask if we wanted that option.

Yeh I know and I can see why it would leave a sour taste in your mouth....when in reality this transaction should leave the member feeling excited with anticipation about the upcoming season...instead of feeling like you been screwed by your club

Word is with the loyalty program the club has no way of determining just how long people have been members for as theyve admitted their record keeping is crappola...we'll probably end up with 7000, seven year members even though we probably had only 3000 back in 2007

Next year will be my 6th year as a member

At no point did they mention an auto-renewal system until I got an email from them on the 9th October. I haven't checked my email in a while and now its apparently too late to change my membership. I'm not going to be in the damn country in 2015.

Do we have a leg to stand on in terms of cancelling our membership?

And by the sounds of it they are only counting consecutive years. So my 5 years will appear as 2....

Just ring them as I did and they will cancel it without any arguements.

I was a member for 5 years before letting it go this year...

I'll be stuffed if I will ever become a member again now...

2013 is the missing year....we didnt even get a members badge that year.
