Making sense and being compelling television aren't quite the same.

Corbin matches tend to be boring like watching paint dry. I couldn't keep my eyes open during his recent win over Apollo Crews, and his stuff against Joe wasn't particularly enthralling either.

Aries is better equipped to carry him to something better and teach him the ropes, but damned if there aren't about a dozen other Aries match-ups I'd rather see.

Especially since Corbin inevitably goes over.

It's a developmental program designed to create new talent, it isn't solely about creating compelling television, especially when it's at the mercy of other shows.

Aries is a veteran who knows how to keep himself over. He'll be fine even if he loses and those 'other matches' won't lose any of their luster.

I don't know where I'd be without you to explain pro-wrestling to me, Pete

Not being a fan of Corbin or not looking forward to having to watch Aries do the hard work in their match doesn't mean I don't see the sense in it. It will be good for Corbin and puts Aries with a guy they're high on - but it's not especially exciting.

It could still be a good program and unless more details come out, there's no reason to believe that Aries won't get an opportunity to work with more experienced performers.

It's good news.

I agree.

I like Corbin, and see potential in him, but thus far, his matches have been a bit average.

I like Corbin, but for the most parts his matches are all the same thing. He dominates for five minutes or so, then hits end of days and wins. Guys like Joe and Crews change that up a bit, and Aries will likely do the same.

 He doesn't quite have that menacing aura that Batista is.

He's tall and looks sad a lot.

Are ex-TNA talent the only ones allowed to keep their old ring names or are there other examples of NXT talent keeping their names?

And on the Corbin debate, I don't mind him, although whenever I look at him I see the lovechild of the two bash brothers from the Mighty Ducks movies.

It all depends. Hideo Itami and Asuka debuted under their former names, then had the big reveal of their new name.

With Joe and Aries, there isn't any plans to promote them to the main roster. Since they are so well known due to their TNA and ROH runs, it works for NXT to play off of that history. With Kevin Steen, Prince Devitt, and El Generico, they were signed to move up to the main roster one day, hence their name changes.

Really looking forward to how AJ Styles is used tomorrow. Seeds for a KO match? Maybe
Ambrose?

I would have said KO for sure if it hadn't been for the Zayn appearance.

If Del Rio had retained, he'd have been the obvious choice.

Just watched Raw

- Reigns vs Ambrose vs Lesnar at FL makes no sense. Why doesn't Reigns automatically get his rematch? Lesnar didn't even show up even though the whole show basically was about "impressing the authority". But they needed a big name for FL because no belt. Anyway Bray will just cost Brock setting up their WM match and Ambrose will eat the pin unfortunately.

- The Rocks segment was so pointless.

- AJ vs Jericho was pretty meh but Jericho was gassed after about 2 minutes so they couldnt really do much. I think their next meeting will be much better.

I didn't really care for much else

I think Reigns doesn't get an automatic rematch for the same reason that he had to defend his title in a Royal Rumble in which he was forced to enter at #1

The Styles match did seem a bit slow. Jericho seemed to spend a lot of time in rest holds giving directions.

Rock's segment was pointless but damn it was good to see him and the New Day go at him. They hit him with some good ones. Told him to watch the product and said he took the money in going to Hollywood lol.

I also think the rock a substance or 2 in him lol seemed a little hyped up to me.

The booking of the triple threat was pretty clunky. It's an OK match for FastLane, I'm sure it will be entertaining but the set-up left a lot to be desired. Perhaps they should have announced it as Dean Ambrose vs Roman Reigns, then changed it to a triple threat next week or whenever Brock was going to be available.

I didn't catch the segment, but I don't have an issue with a legend like The Rock interacting with current talent. It gives them a nice rub and I'm sure the New Day had a blast doing it. With three hours of television, the odd treat like that is perfectly fine.
