*Bump*
Tonight I came across a clip from this movie. For those that don't know, sentinels have been included in this film. The following clip can best be described as 'Wolverine v Sentinel'. I must say that, after viewing this clip, I had multiple orgasms in my pants...does that make me weird?
Anywho, here's the direct link to the vid:
I hope there's more to it than just X-men vs Brotherhood again, cuz that's the impression this trailer gives, and that'd be pretty boring. There's such a rich history for them to draw stories from that surely they can come up with a better plot than the 'Magneto assembling a band of mutants to wreck havoc against humans' one already explored in the first flick. And in X2, again featuring the brotherhood, their enemies (with the exception of Lady Deathstrike) were human soldiers.
The crux of the plot for X3, aside from the (Dark Phoenix saga) is that
a billionaire phamecutical tycoon, who just happens to be Warren Worthington III's (aka Angel) father, has discovered a cure to supress the mutant X gene, permanently. Or is simple terms, it is a cure for mutancy. Magneto, of course, gets pissed of immediately and sets out to either kill, capture or convert the source of the cure, to his Brotherhood.
While the sentiments of people like Storm are "theres nothing to cure. Theres nothing wrong with any of us", the one person to be affected by this cure will be
Rogue and I'm glad she has a bit more to do with the story cos Anna Paquin is so damn cute. In X2, Rogue and Iceman are an item but the bone of contention for Iceman is that he can't get close to Rogue because of her ability to take his life force/take on his powers for a short time. The trailer shows that in X3, Iceman's affections have turned towards Shadowcat and Rogue is fully aware of that. This makes for an interesting choice. Does she take the cure and be a normal girl again or does she stay a mutant and support Professor X's cause?
It's going to go deeper than purely good vs evil, human vs mutant etc.
Gosh, there's so many other stories they can pursue- Sentinels, Apocalypse, Sinister, Days of Future Past, Savage Lands, Brood, the Shadow King. Now I know they're planning to make more than three movies (most of the cast are signed on for at least a fourth) but if they keep the same old brotherhood formula for too long I think audiences are gonna tire of the franchise before they even start exploring some of the more interesting plotlines they could put on screen.
I have read that theres going to be elements of "Days Of Future Past" worked into the plot. I'm not familiar with the comic book series that deeply but the possibility that
it's been reported that Cyclops and possibly The Professor are killed
is a big nod to Days Of Future Past.
Also, there will be Sentinels. Someone posted a link to the clip that was shown on the Jaty Leno show when hugh Jackman was on it and Wolverine
with the help of Colossus' "Fastball Special" lays the smackdown on a Sentinel
.
I read somewhere that the reason Gambit hasn't featured yet is because the producers feel his character is too much like Wolverines'
Alan Cumming, who played Nightcrawler in X2, had an option to come back but chose not to becasue he hated working with Brian Singer. Singer f**ked off to do Superman in the end. Nightcrawler owned X2 IMO so its a pity not to see him back but I'm glad that some of the other mutants that have been glimsed briefly in the previous 2 e.g Shadowcat, COlossus and some new mutants like Angel and Beast are getting featured.
Beast was actually in the original first draft of the original movie but was left out due to the producers wanting to keep it simple ascomic book movies were traditionally turkeys pre-2000. Beast would have cost a fortune to do convincingly and the first X Men would have had a limited budget. There were 2 blue characters in the second one and theres 2 blue characters in the third one. Basically they proved themselves with the first 2 and theres obviously enogh in the budget to do Beast, and do him convincingly, this time around.
cheers for the tip lessStar, i stayed till the end as did a few and reap the rewards
awesome movie, loved it but surely im not the only one its irking to see how far they are straying from the comic/cartoon version? some things are flat out f**ked in relation to the cartoons and comics...
for the record they could not have f**ked up Rogues charactor any more then they have... she needed to be a busty, sexy, red head with southern accent... Jessica Simpson, only with acting abilities and died hair...
That said i love the movies on their own merits, awesomeness, but being a massive comic and cartoon fan, i wish they had of gone more along those lines then they have
