Think we’ve had a fair rub of the green this year but a few things didn’t go or way in this one.
Still you’re up 2-0 with about 15 mins to go against the bottom side you shouldn’t throw a point away.
That Chelsea game later this year might be huge(let’s hope it means nothing by then).
Not sure when it is but hope it’saround FA cup final time and not Champions League game days.

It’s 12 days before the Cup Final and 4 days after the CL semi second leg.

If it was Chelsea at Anfield in our position they’d come and park the bus but unfortunately I don’t think we have the capability to do it at Stamford Bridge.
A draws a win in this situation for us.

We don’t have the capability to do that either these days.

Before this game, there were fans saying "Roma won't be easy like City were because they play a more defensive, Italian-style of football."

Now they're complaining because LFC are heading into the return leg with a 3-goal advantage instead of a 5 goal one.

Next week we could finish the task with a 6-0 demolition job on Roma and these same people will be quick to say that we're only a slim chance against a far superior Bayern or Real Madrid side in the Final.

LFC could dominate the final, win #6 and they'll move onto how "It's nice to win the cup but why can't we do that every weekend in the league?"

I swear that apart from Arsenal fans, nobody beats LFC for pessimism on social media...

Nonsense. Most fans normally think we are far better than we are

Typical Liverpool, only team that could give another team a glimmer of hope after being up 5-0

Taking off Salah was a shocking decision. Similar happened vs West Brom at the weekend.. takes off the best attackers, which only invites the opposition to push further up the field as the main threat is gone. Any quality side will capitalise on that. Roma could easily have had a third. We stopped playing, stopped doing what got us into that position, and it was triggered by taking off the main man.

Klopp thinks too much ahead to the next game rather than the game that is happening now. Win the game/tie, then rest people. It was over and he let them back in. Had he kept Salah on the field there was no way they were getting anything out of that game. Next week in Rome would have been a formality, he could have rested players then, especially Henderson who is on a yellow card and one away from suspension. Messi never rests, Ronaldo never rests, Klopp has got it inyo his head he needs to keep players “fresh”. He rested Chamberlain at the weekend, who then did his ACL yesterday. You can’t predict things. If a player is fit pick him, focus on the now. Rest him when there’s nothing riding on it. It’s precisely because of his resting people in games that matter and letting them slip that we now have to pick players for every game, risking injury and suspension.

If Roma do come back that decision to take off Salah when we were essentially through will go down as arguably the worst substitution in the club’s history.

Ordinarily 5-2 is a great result, and at the start of the night id have bit your hand off for a result like that. But the way the game was thrown away in the last 15 minutes because we stopped playing, that’s the frustrating part. It was self inflicted. Had Klopp kept the side that’s got us into that position the game and tie would be over.

It was managerial suicide. You don’t gift the opposition any way back into the game, Klopp did that when he removed the main threat.

I don’t see us not making the final. Roma will need to come at us and that will play perfectly into our style of play. Let’s not forget city are a much better attacking unit and couldn’t overturn it in the second leg.

Yes it’s a glimmer of hope but Roma know exactly what we can do going forward and will be very wary of getting smashed with our pace yet again. I have no doubt we’ll get a goal in Rome and that’ll be the tie done.

I can see us being even more switched on on the second leg, knowing what is ahead if we win, knowing Roma will be definitely up for it and knowing what we produced late in the first leg.

This Champions league run has been absolutely astonishing to watch. Absolutely breath taking football at times.

Can't see Liverpool not score at least 1-2 goals if they attack the same especially considering Roma will be attacking and Liverpool have been awesome this year on counter attacks.
Can't remember many games other then the start of the season where Liverpool didn't score a goal.

And if Salah got hurt in the final 20mins everyone would be calling for Klopp to be sacked

This.

Klopp took Salah off to keep him safe for the 2nd leg. I'd rather Mo gets subbed and finish 5-2 with Roma needing lightning to strike twice in the return leg, than to win 5-0 and virtually book a spot into the Final but have Mo get injured in the dying minutes and miss the rest of the campaign.

People are forgetting that Mane almost tapped in goal #6 just a minute or two after Roma finally put one on the board. If he'd got to that ball and netted it, it'd be 6-2 and effectively game over. Yes, Roma did beat Barca 3-0 after losing the first leg 4-1 BUT two of Barca's goals that night were OG's. Next week, their only option if they hope to overturn the deficit is to play how better teams have played against LFC- and been taken apart for doing so.

“If if”...you can’t think ahead like that as you don’t know what will happen. You play the cards you are dealt and you focus on the now. He wasn’t carrying an injury (which would have been the only justification for taking him off), he was terrifying the Roma defence.

The tie wasn’t won. A game last 95 minutes, we stopped at 75 and let them back in.

Klopp’s response to the question of taking Salah off, “we can’t put everything into this game”. That’s precisely the problem. He thinks ahead to the next game before the current game is even done and dusted. It’s bit him on the arse twice in four days. Not only is the tie alive again, he’s now having to play the full starting XI in Rome, no resting, and this means Henderson will be walking a tightrope with suspension hanging over him. If Klopp was properly “thinking ahead” with his resting players strategy he should have been thinking “win this tie tonight, and we can rest key players in Rome”. His move will only see players play even more than they would have.

Taking off Salah was more than just removing the main threat, it sent a signal to Roma “go ahead you push up now and attack us”, and also us, we stopped playing. The main man goes off it affects the team, it gives of a ‘job done’ vibe. It’s a complacent substitution. It was 5-0 and he thought he could afford to take him off. He wouldn’t have done it if it was 2-0 or 3-0. When you have a team beat you don’t let them off. Klopp did. I’ve never seen Messi come off for Barca when a game isn’t over, likewise Ronaldo, or any top player, what Klopp is doing is a new tactic, and a suicidal one.

Relax guys. I can't see a way that you can be beaten

They may as well start engraving the trophy now. God himself couldn't stop it now. In fact, I defy God to figure out a way

It's your year

I don’t think we’ll win the whole thing but 5-2 first leg shouldn’t have so much pessimism attached to it.

I’m enjoying the ride this campaign has taken me on. Nothing more nothing less
