I remember an interview with Yeo towards the end of his first season/start of second. And they were talking about some other NRL players from Dubbo - Dean Pay, Andrew Ryan etc. And Yeo was super humble "it was an honour to play just 1 NRL game", "I don't think I'm worthy of being compared to them" etc.
And the guy interviewing said something like "I reckon by the time you're done, you'll be more than equal".
It's always stuck with me, because I thought it was so hilarious at the time.
Yeo was just a lanky kid, struggling to cement his spot in our Top 17. Andrew Ryan had 12 Origin, 11 Tests and an NRL Ring. Dean Pay has 12 Origin, 9 Tests and an NRL Ring.
Happy to say he's proved me wrong.
5 Origins, and a Ring so far. Still got a lot of good footy in front of him.
It's a pity that COVID has screwed international footy, that's probably robbed him of a handful of Test matches. Although to be fair, he probably doesn't have enough QLDer in him to crack Mal's squad.
