The team just took a massive hit for next year. Teka Katoa and Alexis Toenail both deserting to the scum dogs.
Should drop them both now, what a disgrace.
Was always going to happen with new teams. Dogs have approached others within but have said no. The girls comp will be no different to the mens with the departure lounge mentality.
We will need to spend money on good forwards for next season as we are very light on
However I keep saying other clubs (especially new) a doing a bit more to entice
We have a wealth of talent coming through..but do we have the football club staff?
Sowie knows he is skating on ice but not thin yet ATM
Sound familiar

Yeah was always going to happen, just tired of it always being us that are unable to hold onto our better players and unfortunately in Alexis' case, one of our best and the potential to be great.

we got hit the hardest when the new teams were added and its looking like that could be the case again next year.

I don't know what the answer is regarding the football staff and who should be our target but something needs to be done otherwise this team will continually be left behind further and further each year.

I dont know how the contractual side works in NRLW, but its obvious we are not tying down our good players.

It works similar it is under the NRL banner. Except much shorter contract year ATM but as the comp gets longer so will their time under contract
They wont get to the 12 month contracts the men are at.
But in their out of season some girls are well looked after with 3rd parties and have outside jobs as well
No surprise Roosters..Millie Elliott FOX and their are other higher profile girls with full time work
Some of our girls have part time jobs within the Dragons, some are studying as well
As I said the comp is probably expanding way too fast for the talent since they only had 4 teams about 4 years ago then went to 6. They would of tripled in size by next year? Is the crowd support there yet?
I think they need to ditch the night games post men''s games experiment.
The crowd numbers are not staying

The majority of the squad are/were signed for next year, Alexis (option) & Teka were both signed for this year and next.
Alexis obviously chose not to take up her option & assuming Teka requested a release.

There is no attraction for our club, players use us to show what they can offer and then provide that to the other teams when they come knocking. We haven't signed a legit marquee player from another club that wanted to keep them.

After all our rep players departed us at the end of 2022 the only marquee signing we made was Mcgregor and I have a feeling the roosters were happy to see her go. That is literally it, we have not signed another top liner apart from her.

wow that's disappointing, Angela has really stepped up the last 12months constantly one of our best and Alexis is really starting to improve and show her potential both are big powerful girls, which is something we lack as it is, questions have to be asked why we keep losing so many talented girls compared to other teams.

New clubs are doing the rounds to poach whoever wants to come with good offers. Its normal
However we move too slow in identifying, nurturing and locking in our top squad
As I said there are others off contract this year (we have many 1 year contracts) that have been asked to come across
I do not know whether we think they will be loyal, wait and see how they go approach, is the staff going to change?, but again I do not just blame Sowie (partly) but the club are not focused enough for me on the bigger long term picture IMO and can sell that to the girls.
If they prove that wrong I stand corrected but all I can go off is what I am told and see with my own eyes ATM.
As I say sound familiar

I didn't realise but Teka was also a player option for next year. I think they both accepted the player options as a failsafe if the dogs were not one of the sides accepted into the comp next year. As soon as they were announced they were as good as gone.

The only way forward for the club is to make the Dragons side of the venture as strong as the Steelers and then promote the best players from within and build the side around that. Whether they are going to be willing to fork out what is required or have the correct people in place to make it happen are another story but it is there only option if they want to be more than just fodder for the rest of the comp because it is clear we are not a destination club.

You go Sowie. Jamie has just been told he wont be needed next year.
The women's team mirroring the men's team - long term underperformance due to the inability to attract and retain talent.
After how many coaches do we need to go through before the finger is pointed on management and owners.
I have said for years St George is the Souths of the late 70's - late 00's until they were saved by Russell Crowe and a complete overhaul of structures and processes were instigated in the form of a proper business plan.
Its criminal that us supporters (the lifeblood of the team) are powerless to effect change.

We can only effect change on the St george side but not the Illawarra, that is set in stone.
