"You happy with the on side Walshy?"

Just watched Manly v Penrith that I recorded earlier today. Great game and freak catch and pass by Jamie Lyon at the end. What struck me as strange was just before the final try was awarded you could here Matt Checcin clearly ask the touch judge "you OK with the on side Walshy?". Being a recording, I hit the rewind and checked if the chasers were on side. Funny enough I reckon Brett Stewart on the far side of the field was perhaps a half a yard offside, but it was very close.

So that raises the question. If Checcin wasn't sure if the Manly chasers were on side, why didn't he go upstairs? I mean, taking the Touchy's word for it in such an important moment in a big game seemed a bit reckless, especially in the context of the season where every f**kin' grounding, kick chase and decoy run has been checked.

Weird not to go to video referee for the match decider. But odds on they award it anyway. The time being stopped 15 seconds later is the bigger issue. How can it take that long for them to react to being told to stop the clock? that's a joke that they can't fix their mistake either.

Not that it's likely to change the outcome. But even with the ball back, there's no time to level it or win it without ridiculous amounts of luck. 20 seconds allows a couple of plays Atleast.

Why did the clock have to be stopped?

They don't stop it until the conversion has taken place. And because they didn't go to the video ref there was no reason to at all.

Cows fans will appreciate the irony that a referee f**k up which potentially gave manly a win actually benefits our chances of a top 4 spot. Although we still need to beat the Sharks and then Manly themselves to do it AND have the warriors beat the Panthers next week

Refs honestly don't help themselves, clear off side, the half wits go up stairs almost all the time yet they don't when its that f**king close, f**k me wonder why they get critisized soo much, no sport in the world with so sub standard refs.

"They use the video ref too much, just let the onfield officials decide!"
