I remember Danny Sullivan coming through the grades and thought he was going to be a super-star. Too bad the dreaded injuries culled his career.

Thanks Colonel

I have still have a poster of the 2001 squad, unfortunately no names listed but hes definately in that photo, just couldnt think of his name it was killing me all week.

Very promising, I remember he was going well in the 2001 reserves, was he a 5/8 lock. Had a bright future ahead of him, whether it was at Parra or elsewhere.

Another Marist junior.

Both were earmarked for stardom but never quite got there:

Barney haslett- was the kid from gold coast (?) that crusher paraded on the footy show. Crusher blamed himself for the weight of expectation on barney's shoulders that he thought led to his demise and stopped him making it.

Chris flynt - I think that was his name. Star player in the comm bank cup schoolboy comp around 94. Was talked up big but after the brawl in the final that year seemed to vanish.

Barney was from TUMBARUMBA in Group 9 (Riverina)
Kris Flint played with Gold Coast Chargers but never really cracked it...(Kris was with St Gregs)

Barney and I went to school together. He was from Tumbarumba (Southern NSW - Group 9 competition)

He was a good player, but probably went to the wrong club at the time (Nothing against Parra, but they had a swag of great young forwards there at the time, he was never going to make the grade there.

His oldest brother Ben played in the commonwealth bank cup final in the mid-late 90's but didn't go any further.

His mum was an English teacher at Tumbarumba High.

Ray Morris - the only player from University to be selected to play for Australia - was on the boat to England, got an ear infection, became very ill, was dropped off in Malta to get medical treatment and died of meningitis before getting to play a game in the green and gold.

John Farragher - broke his neck and became a quadriplegic after a scrum collapsed on him.

Chris Sanderson - took a knock to the head early in a game in England, was stretchered off and thought to be knocked out, died en-route to hospital. The game was cancelled at halftime when the players found out. It wasn't rescheduled either.

Adam Watene from the Warriors team back in 1995 who died after a collision in a trial match.

Leon Walker who went into convulsions and died after a tackle in a reserves game in England in 2009.

does anyone know what happened to one of the junior illawarra steelers, scott cram?

he was touted as the next big thing and injured his neck one game that i was at in 1997..

the halftime show was meant to be a blackhawk helicopter doing some aerobatics over the ground.. instead the helicoper just flew in, landed on the field and they put scott cram on the black hawk and flew him to hospital in sydney.

what about NZ guy from about 4 years ago, his surname was Davis I think. He had a big ego and said he would be pushing for a NRL start in his first seaosn, he played wing/centre. Broke his leg I think then went to the tigers
