I'd prefer Merrin at 13, just because it gives us more running options. Taylor and Yeo aren't going to contribute significantly to our go forward. Puts a lot of pressure on our front row IMO, and may force us to move the ball laterally early each set which is dangerous.

I'll happily be proven wrong though.

Merrin at lock would be a bandaid because the rest of our props are incapable of doing their job. Unfortunately that's probably the case.

I don't think Merrin has ever been a consistent 80 minute player though which is my main concern.

Yeah would be getting some guys gametime. Cartwright is fine gametime wise so no need to start in a meaningless trial. Get some players in form has to be the go

This pretty much confirms the 1-7 we all predicted will be selected Round 1. Blake might be in if Whare misses out. But if he is fit then Griffin has gone with what we all knew he would.

Interestingto see Merrin in the front row. When RCG is fit do we drop Yeo for Merrin at lock? Or does Matagi, Latu or Latimore lose a spot? Can't imagine our 9s captain being dropped... and Latu and Matagi have had good preseason games in the 9s and All Stars.
