Kinda bored, but still really interested - who out there is currently in a band or has been in their lives? What were/are you called? Chuck everything in here, I'm sure the mods wouldn't even mind a bit of advertising if you throw a link up :D

I'll add my contribution in later (lol, been playing in bands for at least the past 12-13 years), but mostly keen to check out what everyone else has been doing & of course would love some war stories from the past.

Just look at the link in my sig. Been a muso for about 700 years (feels like it).

So many war stories, I could write a book. I shared a taxi home with a famous Scottish born singer who was so stoned that he could he could not remember his address.

Had a drummer arrested for the umpteenth DUI with the newspaper headline "Australia's worst driver".

I played at an engagement party (fancy dress) where the happy couple got married just to surprise everyone. Once the families found out. They decided to punch shyte out of each other. Bride in tears wearing a barbie costume and the groom wearing a pirate outfit threatening the in laws. Surreal.

Played in 2 bands. last one broke up about 8 months ago.

Strike First - First band, sorta played Jugheads revenge/pennywise/Punk stuff.
Lifetime To Pay - Second band, played good riddance/propagandhi style stuff.

Recorded 4 times, once with Scotte From One Dollar Short, We got to be the first band to record in Gary beers from INXS new studio on the central coast.

Plenty of stories, played in front of packed rooms at the harp and others sydney venues, also played to no one in some of the same venues. Loved every min of it.

Currently writting sme new stuff, more hardcore based, big bass sound with lots of chugga chugga riffs.

toured OZ many moons ago.
12 months on the road ...that killed the band.

Played all over Sydney in other bands.

One of them nearly came off, we had great reviews and were booked out solid for 6 months, recorded ...had groupies...I even got recognized once or twice.
Supported some pretty popular bands down the snow and around here.
I got to meet Dave Grohl, Evan Dando, You Am I and Hoodoo gurus etc.

Done a bit of solo stuff.
Even played guitar ( at the Tamworth country music pizz up )for a bloke who somehow got a recording contract.

Currently in a 3 piece acoustic thing.
It is early days ..but have already got a few gigs booked starting in Sept.
Selling my soul by playing covers for cash.

just a tip

Never trust women or drummers...love ém, but just don't trust them.

The Falsetto Teeth. We played one 45 minute show of covers at uni, for zero dollars. Does that even qualify us as a band? Was a great show though tbh

we are On Empty a punk group with a heavier edge (recently) our older stuff was quite poppy sum 41ish but our newer stuff that we r currently recording is a mix of the fun of NOFX with the Drive of Rise Against.

I play guitar and do back up vocals/screams.

We have played in venues from Ulladulla to Kiama to Wollongong to Sydney.

We have supported aussie bands such as:

Children Collide
Regular John
Behind Crimson Eyes
Ink

and then lesser known bands we have played with such as

Conspiracy Plan
Zero Degrees and Falling
This Films For Bella
Against All Odds

Check us out at

Sweet, been great to hear everyone's responses so far.

I'm only 24, but have been playing in plenty of bands over the past 10+ years, like most of you.

Most recent one has been together for a bit over a year (but I've been playing in bands with the guitarist/singer for around four years). I play bass guitar & we're called Beware the Hippos. Play dirty blues/rock - similar style to The Fumes and The Black Keys, but we are slightly removed from that genre as we're a three piece with a bass guitar.

Haven't really started gigging full-on yet - been spending the past year writing heaps of tunes and getting our style and ability downpat. Heading out to play a few shows later this year and will see where it takes us.

Just demos up at this stage too (home recordings, so quality not that great), but we're at http://www.myspace.com/bewarethehippos if you're bored.

heh, yep.
not to mention, Jerry A, of Poison Idea.
When he toured here on the BDO trail with the Hard-ons, I was at the Perth gig. He got up on stage with the Beasts and started scholling Bourbon and paying them out because they weren't real "Beasts of Bourbon" like him. twas classic.
