So with the NRL Draw likely to be released at the end of November and small leaks arising,
I wanted to see what would be your choices for the Round 1 fixtures for next year.

Mine would definitely be:
Thursday Night 8:05: Panthers vs Storm (Bluebet Stadium)
Friday Night 8:05: Dolphins vs Roosters (Suncorp Stadium)
Saturday 3:00: Warriors vs Knights
(Mt Smart Stadium)
Saturday 5:30: Sharks vs Rabbitohs
(Pointsbet Stadium)
Saturday 7:35: Eels vs Sea Eagles
(Commbank Stadium)
Sunday 2:00: Bulldogs vs Titans
(Commbank Stadium)
Sunday 4:05: Broncos vs Cowboys
(Suncorp Stadium)
Sunday 6:15: Dragons vs Raiders
(WIN Stadium)
Bye: Tigers
Storm Vs Broncos (AAMI)
Bulldogs Vs Tigers (Accor)
Dolphins Vs Titans (Suncorp)
Cowboys Vs Souths (QCBS)
Dragons Vs Raiders (WIN)
Knights Vs Eels (Newy)
Warriors Vs Sharks (NZ)
Sea Eagles Vs Roosters (USA)
(Not in any time/day order)

Penrith Vs St.Helens (WCC)

Penrith get the bye, but are buzy

Went with this draw so that the start of the season could have some match ups that arent too special, but some that would draw in certian areas (dolphins vs titans) qld derby
and (storm vs bronx)= no afl
The rest are just getting the game started in areas around the game, and leave one in sydney that needs attention..
Then the Manly* Rainbows vs Sydaney Rosters
In California or Chicago wherever they've decided on

Of course Penrith are off using the bye.. should be traditional that the premiers starts the week on a bye.. aswell as locking in that World cup challenge as a fixture

Rosters get the week off on bye the following week as theyll be too many syd games the following round, and manly can get the round 3 bye after both teams trip back from the U.S
*since manly had the home game

Like the WCC idea, at least until we get 18 teams which might then require tweaking. Teams who play in the US should be given a Sunday game in Rnd 2 given the disruption a 16 flight - minimum would have on their week.

I like it bar the dragons vs sharks, that local derby is wasted at the start of the year, better off build that at a latter round
Plus isnt that USA game between rainbowsVrosters happening first round?

Can the Dragons open the season with the bye please? I’d like an extra week of off-season before I fall into my annual NRL depression.

Actually. Just doing the maths.

Whoever has the bye will be in 9th after the first round.

Tigers for the bye. Obviously.

Given that Thursday nights generally have dud crowds, I don’t think we should begin a new season on a game with minimal atmosphere. It will be a letdown after the preseason hype ad campaign. So can we please start the season on a Friday night.
Unlikely, I know given that TV runs the game.

Depends what time they play the game, i think they are 14 hours behind in California
Was watching Dallas F1 GP 2nd practice which was twilight there I think and 8-9am here. A night game (depending where it’s played of course) could go into about midday-ish here which is a convenient time for both sides of the Pacific - provided it’s a Sat/Sundee here which would be better for tele ratings.

I'd like a real Super Saturday/Sunday with 4 games played back to back. We can do it now with NZ back in the frame. They take the 12pm slot like the olde days and the rest fill.

I hope the Dolphins don’t get a Thursday game first up but those merkins at 9 will probably do it.

Cowboys shouldn’t have a home game until at least the 3rd round because of the heat and weather. Even Night games would be crazy hot. Especially next year with the comp starting early.

Austin, not Dallas.
