Yep. Pretty much this. But Moylan missed some tackles in this 8 games at stand off and threw a bad pass against Souths. Burn him!
Somehow we expect to not miss the most tackles in the competition by signing the worst defender in the competition. Our discipline sucks, but signing the most penalised player in the competition will fix that.
I know some teams will intentionally give away penalties to set the ir line. But thats only a good tactic if you're able to defend them. We aren't.
Our attack in the opposition 20 sucks... and thats also going to be fixed by signing a player who has created less tries and linebreaks in the past 2 years than the guy we're losing.
Maloney can probably follow a game plan better than Moylan. But that's useless in a team that has none.
Unlike the Sharks and Roosters, we dont have the defensive players and structure around him to cover his flaws. It wont be his fault. His flaws are already flaws of our team as a whole.
Its expected he will fix all these areas. Yet that shit all starts with the coach. The coach is responsible for pur attacking and defensive structures. For our discipline. For the set plays we run and so on. Maloney will need to go to a level he has never played at before to thrive in this team. Hook is nowhere near the class of Flanagan or Robinson. Our pack is nowhere near as tough as the packs he thrived behind. We dont have the discipline and defence they had.
Those teams also added more than just Maloney. Roosters added Maloney, SBW and Jennings. Sharks added Barba, Ennis and Maloney. He isnt the key ingredient for success. He was just part of the equation.
